Description

The age old question… does anyone make refills for all those empty 2 piece Sunlu spools we've all got lying around? The answer is now a YES! Bambu does!

V2 Update: V2 is an optimized, lightweight version that saves over 25 grams of filament & prints 20 minutes faster, all without sacrificing strength!

See here for the version with integrated outer spacer rings: https://makerworld.com/en/models/961595#profileId-931612

Using my new 3 piece adapter set, you can now use Bambu Lab refills on your 2 piece Sunlu spools! Assembly is as easy as easy as using a Bambu refill on a regular roll, and it even fits perfectly on the AMS Lite!

Features:

  • 3 simple parts printed on one plate.
  • Prints in under 2.5 hours and uses less than 100g of filament! By comparison, the printable Bambu spool uses 235g.
  • EASY installation takes seconds.
  • Works in both AMS and AMS Lite!
  • RF ID works as intended!
  • Save plastic from the landfill and reuse those Sunlu spools with official Bambu filament refills!
  • Hubs can be used as an AMS Lite adapter without the center sleeve on a regular Sunlu spool of filament!

Enjoy!

Any idea why this happen to top thread? Printed with PET-G, 2 perimeters. 0.2 layer height. Bottom thread is nice, top one is broken. From provided 3MF I've reused Seam position: back.

My profile was tuned for pla, I haven't tried with petg. Did you use adaptive layer height? .2 is a bit too high for those threads, that's where the adaptive comes in to play, it lowers the height in critical regions like the threads.

Good hint! Variant with adaptive layer height is printing - it did 0.15 for thread and 0.3 for continuous part.

Everything printed nicely. The screw is so close to perfect! I had to reprint it at 99% for it to assemble and I added some tabs to make removal easier. Other than that, great work!

It would be great if You share it, I had some issues screwing it together. Those tabs would help :-)

Outer spacer ring failed (broke one of the legs off right before they merged together) on my x1c using the stock profile printed with petg from the BH app, as well as the large internally threaded section was pretty spaghetti-fied. Good looking file though. ill make some adjustments and try to upload a working PETG print profile for it later today if i get the time.

My profile was specifically tuned for pla. if you're using PETG, you have to use adaptive layer height with a quality setting of .3 for the threads to print correctly, and not grid infill.

Im aware of the differences in the settings, sometimes you get lucky and BH makes just enougg changes to a profile just by selecting a different material. this was not one of those cases. which is why i stated its a good model, and ill be uploading a working PETG profile for it so others can print it from PETG and use it without having to slice it themselves. 👌

yeah I've had issues printing from the app too, it once sent an A1 mini print to my p1s even though I picked the correct profile. it obviously failed lol.

Looks great! V2 will have an integrated outer ring as well, will be ready in a couple days once I finish up some other projects.

Why add an outer ring? Sunlu spools fit well in the AMS

I agree and haven't had any issues either, but a lot of people complain that once the spools get low the ams has issues pulling back.

did you change anything in the print profile included? a few others have had this happen, but it seems to be only when they change some settings.

no I sent the print straight from the app.

Same here. Three failures in a row. Printing out the part from V1 instead. Hope the other parts from V2 fit it.

Printed two and shoved 6 silica containers on the plate, appears to have printed very nicely. Thanks for this model, will be super useful!

Great fit for other refills sized to fit the Bambu spool. Marswork shown and should also fit the new eSun filament refills.
