Description

🌟 Ultimate Robot Storage Door Lifter 🌟

Transform your storage door into a smart, robot-ready space with my Ultimate Robot Storage Door Lifter! This is a customizable and robust system designed to automatically lift your storage door up to 12 cm – perfect for robot vacuum cleaners that need a clear path.

🔧 Features

  • Lifting Height: Up to 12 cm, ideal for most robot vacuum cleaners.
  • Control Unit: Integrated with a Shelly 2PM (Shelly 2PM on Amazon) and connected to Home Assistant for seamless automation.
  • Motor: Powered by an electric window opener motor (Motor on Amazon) capable of both pushing and pulling (with a stiff chain).
  • Material Compatibility: All parts are optimized for PLA+ with a 25% infill using the gyroid pattern.
  • Flexible Design: You can add extra hinges for increased stability.

🛠️ Required Materials

3D-Printed Parts:

  • Door lifter components
  • Motor holders (designed specifically for the listed motor but adaptable for smaller motors)
  • Hinges (at least 4 recommended for stability)

Additional Hardware:

  • M4 machine screws for hinges (M4 Screws on Amazon)
  • Wood screws for attaching the system to your door
  • Grease for smooth operation
  • Cables for connecting all components

🎨 Printing Recommendations

  • Material: PLA+
  • Infill: 25% using the gyroid pattern
  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm or lower for precision

To increase the system’s durability, print additional hinges (I used 4 hinges in my setup).

🌈 Assembly Instructions

  1. Print the Parts:
    • Download the files and print all components with the specified settings.
  2. Prepare the Motor:
    • Use the electric window motor or a similar one capable of pushing and pulling with a stiff chain.
    • Attach the motor to the holders using M4 screws.
  3. Assemble the Hinges:
    • Secure the hinges to the lifter system and door using wood screws.
    • Apply grease to ensure smooth movement.
  4. Integrate the Control Unit:
    • Connect the motor to a Shelly 2PM control unit (Shelly 2PM on Amazon).
    • Set up automations in Home Assistant for seamless door opening and closing.
  5. Test the System:
    • Ensure all parts move smoothly and the system operates correctly. Adjust screws or grease as needed.

🚀 Automate Your Storage Door

Using Home Assistant, you can set up automations so that your robot vacuum cleaner triggers the door lifter as needed. For example:

  • Automation Idea: Open the storage door when the vacuum starts cleaning and close it when finished.
  • Enhanced Integrations: Some robot vacuum integrations in Home Assistant (e.g., Roborock) offer detailed states that can be used to automate the door in an intelligent way.
