Description

UPDATE:

New Version available; Please use the "125mm sandpaper french cleat v2.4.stl" or the “NEW” Print profile.

 - Slightly bigger diameter

 - Old version was slightly skewed and the base more oval than actually circular, somehow I missed that in the original file

 - New Print Profile for the new file available with stronger support; printed quite a few myself with both PLA and PETG, Support never failed in my prints, that being said be sure to use a good print surface with enough grip.

-------------------------------------

Simple French Cleat holder for 125mm or 5 Inch Hook and Loop Sanding Paper.

Sized to easily hold an entire Pack (50) of 3M Cubitron,

since I needed bulk storage and not those nice but small holders already available.

45° angle for 18mm or ¾ Inch cleats.

PLA works but I would recommend for PETG for strengh.

150mm/6" version available here:

turned out great

First unit printed fine with the recommended settings. Second unit failed at the cleat (pictured). Manually added extra tree supports around the cleat and the third print was successful (also pictured). Good design. Suggest offering a shallower unit for those who may not have as many sanding pads. Saves on filament / space / etc.

printed 3 times, the first came out great, next two had failures in the cleat portion with the supports. might need to pull into Bambu studio to get more/better supports.

Thank you for the Feedback. I will probably Look at the project file again and improve the Supports. Since you printed it, I have a Quick question. What's your take on the internal diameter, I noticed that some paper like the 3m cubitron tends to Stick to itself and so can be a bit tricky to neatly load and fit into the holder. Increasing the diameter by like 5mm might remedy that. Did you have any issues with that? (besides the Support)

I also use the cubitron sandpaper and it was somewhat difficult to load. haven’t used it enough to be sure wether it is an issue in use, but increased size might help. then again, it might make it hard to dispense just one. only testing will show the answer.

alright, thank you. Feel free to let me know if you encounter any other issues, it's a simple design, but I want it to be good and reliable both in terms of printing and in use.

printed with the new design on 1/19/25. improved over the previous design for sure. supports seem to work better and the larger size is nice. I wish there was one for 6” discs as well. 🙏

Thanks for the Feedback and thanks for the boost, I already thought about doing a 6" Version as well, just that 5" was a higher priority for me. The 6" is in the Pipeline for sure.

I have a 6" version online now.

the first one printed, perfect the next three failed at the cleat. the 5" size is undersized for the 5" sanding disc.

thanks for the honest feedback; I will work on a revision, both a bit bigger in terms of diameter and also work on the support or make it printable in a different orientation so it doesn't need support. this will take a bit of time, since I need to experiment with it. I'm sorry for the failed prints and wasted filament.

Good job on the new version. The supports are much more sturdy yet very easy to separate from the main piece.

Support Issue:The support separated from the main piece while printing and it all collapsed. I don’t think there is any added value to having an angle. This would work just as well if it was straight up and would be a lot simpler and faster to print.

thank you for the Feedback; Other users have reported issues as well, so I worked on a revision. the STL is now online for the new version (Slightly bigger, because filling the original version can be a bit of a squeze), as well as a new print profile with better support.
