Description

UPDATE 2: Check out my new and improved model for your enjoyment here

https://makerworld.com/en/models/953866#profileId-922421

UPDATE: The Main Design just got a makeover – it's now 20% lighter and said goodbye to the pesky purge tower. 🎉

I've also uploaded several MK2 experimental designs for your printing pleasure, including some of my “creative misfires” while trying to improve forward propulsion. Let’s just say this has been my hyperfixation for weeks (don’t judge).

I’m already tinkering with a new approach for the MK3 version, which will be available as a separate model soon. But in the meantime, enjoy these MK2 designs! My personal favorite? The Hovercraft with the rocket attachment. Sure, it doesn’t last long, but boy does it zoom! 🚀

Happy printing, and may your PLA be plentiful!

I wanted to take the normal Balloon style hovercraft but add some extras, for starters, I wanted to add some form of forward propulsion, which I have hopefully achieved, (it does work but it's not very fast).

I also wanted to try and get the design close to how a hovercraft may look so I've utilized the Bambu AMS to make it appear the base has the “rubber” skirt found on hovercrafts, of course, this can be printed with or without an ams.

And as all hovercrafts should, it also works on water.

I hope you have lots of fun with this model it was a joy to create.

Printed great, but the propulsion doesn't really work too well; Maybe smaller ports lower on the body, perhaps just above the 'rubber' section? It could potentially benefit from being ported like a rocket valve or something similar. Kinda bleeds the balloon quickly for the amount of air that could just be holding the craft for longer. Very neat concept, printed perfectly, will be following to see any future iterations!

Hi thanks, I honestly did not expect the interest in this model, I'm so humbeled by the love it's recieved so far, I am in the process of redesigning it with better propulsion options. Thanks for the comments all feedback is greatly appreciated.

It printed pretty well but. there was a little stringing inside during printing other than that, it works real good!

Easy enough to print, but was too heavy with PLA to actually work. I'll try a reduced size and see if it helps.

Fun print. I had stringing issues inside due to my old undried silk filament.

Unfortunately there is no to minimal thrust. It's a nice idea, still, that's plenty of time and material about to be spend. Hope to see an updated version soon! :) In water, but also on ground.
