Description

Cozy Lotus Shoji Lamp

This lamp was inspired by the traditional Japanese Shoji lamps and is ornamented with the symbol of the lotus flower.

The assembly of the lamp works without glue or screws all parts are joined together which allows a quick and easy assembly.

The lamp kit from the Maker Store is used as the light source and is linked below.

How to assemble.

Cut out 1x 123x123mm and 4x 123x148mm pieces from normal construction paper. The pieces are glued to the backs of the 4 side parts and the top part. A simple glue stick can be used for this, dabbing works better than brushing.

The lamp kit is inserted into the lower part.

Insert the bottom part into the opposite side parts.

Insert the remaining 2 side parts from above onto the lamp

And close the lamp with the top part.

General printing tips for beginners:

- Do not use weak filaments like silk filament for mechanically stressed parts
- For better adhesion of the build plate, use adhesive sprays like 3DLAC.
- All my prints are tested before uploading, use my provided print profiles and the linked parts to achieve the same results

very nice and a good fit. Thanks 👍 I used PLA Mahogany Brown, a nice dark brown, and instead of paper, I printed thin sheets of light yellow PLA (2 layers, 0,2 p/layer) just stiff enough and still gives the light of LED bulb of 1 watt a very nice glow 🌟 I made several photos 😊

@user_3990714028 What should be the thickness of the paper sheet if 3D printed?

Replying to @3DPrintedGuy :
0.4 mm is enough

Drew a paper sheet using Thinkercad. My paper sheet is by luck and chance 0.3mm in thickness . I used Bambulab White Oak PLA wood filament for the sheets. The sheets feel just like real paper.

A stunning lamp Printed with bright Jayo Wood filament and a cube of Jayo transparent PETG filament in orange This allows the inner lampshade to be easily placed in the lamp without glue and later easily changed

Great model! I scaled this down to fit on a Bambu A1 mini and then built a 4-sided sleeve in white that slides right in! It's 3mm thick. I think I'd like to make a thinner walled version.

The whole lamp came out beautifully, the design is stunning and I can’t wait for the lamp kit to arrive so I can finish assembling. Only issue I had was gluing on the paper, but if you use a generous amount and put something heavy on it then it’ll stick.

This is a beautiful design and I printed it using the Bambu Wood PLA. I set the top and bottom surface pattern in the profile to "Archimedean Chords" to enhance the illusion of wood. I also printed the paper as suggested by other makers here. I have uploaded the following profile: https://makerworld.com/en/models/998037?profiled=974885#profileId-974885 Thanks for this great lamp!
