It is big by design to it fits perfectly into the slot and does not ramble around when a drawer is opened, and to be comfortably removed from the slot. when the mouse is needed. I indeed has seen the 3D model, your remix is based on, but it does not suit my drawer style and the dimensions, thus I have created a series of my own storages for the mouses :) Good luck with your remix!
