The Design

This customized Commander deck box was crafted with care and precision to protect your expensive cardboard. This box is meant to house four commander decks; LOTR or otherwise.

  • Perfect Fit: The interior dimensions are engineered to snugly fit sleeved cards, preventing movement and potential damage during transport.
  • Enhanced Commander Display: The box integrates a BCW or UltiPro mini snap case for showcasing your commander card in its full glory. This alternative to standard 3x4 top loaders provides superior protection in a much smaller form factor, allowing for a more compact box.
  • Customizable Aesthetic: The designs are embedded into the lid and/or box and can be ‘split to parts’ in Bambu Studio for effortless recoloring. This makes it easy to personalize the box in your preferred colors.
  • Superior Magnetic Closure: Magnets ensure a firm lid closure, eliminating wear and tear over time seen in push-to-lock boxes. The lid is easy to remove and incredibly satisfying to snap shut.
  • No Friction, No Binding: Unlike other boxes that rely on sliding plastic parts, this design avoids the common issue of binding, making opening and closing a breeze.
  • Affordable and Accessible Materials: The magnets and BCW or Ultipro mini snap cases are affordable and widely available, so you can build your perfect deck box without breaking the bank.
  • Modular System: With interchangeable lids and boxes so you can mix and match designs to suit your needs.
  • Inserts: Each insert is supported with guides at the bottom of the box.

Deck Box Insert Capacity

The deck box inserts can hold:

  • 105 standard size double sleeves cards; or
  • 99 standard size single sleeved cards and 20 standard size single sleeved tokens; or
  • 99 standard size single sleeved cards and 40 standard size unsleeved tokens; or
  • 230 standard size unsleeved cards

Token Box Insert Capacity
105 standard size single sleeves cards

Dice Storage Capacity

Lots; more than you will need :)

Magnets

The sixteen (16) 6mm X 3mm magnets used for this project. Polarity matters, once the magnets go in they are very difficult to remove. I recommend using a jig like this. You can buy the magnets from Amazon for around 0.06 cents each.

Mini Snap Cases

Mini Snap cases are available directly from BCW or UltiPro, Amazon, or your local game store. I typically spend less than one US dollar each.

Printing

  • 15% Gyroid infill
  • Thin wall detection - Enabled
  • Seam position- Back
  • Wall Generator - Arachne
  • Recommended: Ironing topmost surfaces

if it's alright with you of course! already started working on a Fallout box, might see about using a snippet of the maps from 3 and 4 for the larger panels? still brainstorming it

I would love to print this in honor of my best friend I lost almost 3 years back. Two of his favorite things, Dr. Who and MTG. I love the design!

did you have issues with lid closing once you inserted case holders? I see you used textured plate as well, that’s why I ask. didn’t know if that added too much for clearance.

they were a little snug but a little pressure pushing them down and it all fit fine.

Any chance you’ll design one for the Warhammer, Fallout, or Dr Who decks? I imagine they’d be popular. Also, this is amazing and I can’t wait to see how the glow in the dark will look on this box.

Fallout and Final Fantasy 7 are on the todo list. I think you are right about Dr. Who and Warhammer.

Amazing design! I am just now printing the last panels for it to be complete! This might be a silly question (since I am new at printing) but I assume the side panels should be glued on using regular super glue?

You are correct. You dont need too much. I typically use 9 small dots (four corners, four sides, and one in the middle. )

love it so much! only change i would make if I could is make the top a slide in rather than magnets. the magnets seem a but to weak to really secure the lid

Im so excited for this print! Its gonna be so awesome when its done. I play One Piece tcg which uses 50 card deck and a leader so I made some modifications so that I can fit two deckboxes in each slot.

This looks amazing! Would you share the Decklists of your LOTR-Decks. I felt the Precons were lacking a bit and I like your choice of commanders.
