I've encountered reports of the Bambulab A1 cutter presser breaking during the cutting process. While there's a solution involving replacing the entire front cover of this printer part, I opted for a more conservative approach to avoid unnecessary OEM part replacement.
Of course the ideal is to do a regular maintenance and replace the cutter blade when it shows wear, this is just for extra support for prevention or a quick fix if yours is already broken.
I designed a simple snap-on piece that provides additional support to the cutter, reducing it's flex during the pressing phase. This modification also includes a cable saver to minimize cable movement also helping keeping the cable health.
Please note that the fit is quite tight, especially the part that snaps onto the cable's oval base. You may need to wiggle it a bit to secure it properly.
Update 2.0: Some cosmetic changes and increased support after user feedback.
This is for the A1, not the A1 mini, I don't have access to a A1 mini to do a version for it, if someone can give me precise dimensions I can try to adapt a version.
I used PETG since I prefer the slight flexibility PETG has compared to PLA (so the spiral can flex), but PLA probably works too.
Might try to improve the looks in the future, but for now it works.
I hope you find this solution as helpful as I have.
