Description

Hey!

This is an open-source project that I did around a year ago. I put it on my website where I sell some 3D printed parts, but I figured it might be easier for you all to find it here.

These are my monke-in-the-barrel filament hangers. They interlink with each other to create large hanging fixtures to store open-air filament. I made these after I wasn't satisfied with all the other solutions I found. I didn't want to screw something into my wall, and I had a huge closet with nothing hung inside. I also wanted them to be VERY easy to use. They simply snap-in and out of the hangers.

This is a sweet design and I urge anyone to try them out! It is a pretty significant print, and I turned a lot of my settings (especially speed/accel.) in favour of quality. It certainly still need some print settings tuning!

This was printed on an X1C, but should work on all others.

Thanks for checking it out.

Kai

I love the design! I haven't seen any other linkable spool hangers so far, and it's just what I was looking for. Printed on an A1 (using all your settings, just changing the printer type), I had two quality issues: - the bottom of the peg end broke off the supports on both pegs - the first layer of the hook inside curve where it touches the support does not stay curved, leaving a layer of bridged filament from one side of the hook to the other

Also guess I should mention it looks like you're using quite small spools in your photos. I am using the top printable hex spool from Makerworld and it is kind of a tight fit to get into the opening, the PLA has to flex a little before it pops through. Works fine for now but I would be worried if there were any spools out there a little larger. Also tested with stock Bambu spools.

Thanks so much for this design - I currently have printed 4 of them in Bambu PLA Matte Charcoal and they look fantastic. Was looking for a way to utilise my closet space for fillament stoage and this works exactly the way I envisioned. Found that the supports were a bit difficult to remove in the inital profile so I messed with some settings and now they just fall straight off.
