I hope you all enjoy this traditional German pyramid as much as I did when modeling it!  I had been planning this design since last year, but just didn't have time to complete it with a newborn on the way; however, this year I'm super proud to share this work with the community.  Give it a try, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Watch a video of the print here!

A German pyramid is a wooden decoration that is traditionally used for German Christmas celebrations and now you can print your own! It's a really fascinating, eye-catching, interactive piece of holiday decor that you're sure to enjoy.

Non-Printed Parts:

  • 4x LED Flame Tea Light Candle (KC008)
  • Turntable Motor (LA001)

Printed Parts:

  • Print one of each part, except for
  • 12x Blades
  • 2x Arches

Printing Tips

Use supports where the printer recommends them, organic will probably work best. I don't recommend supports on the spiral trees though since it will be difficult to remove them. I also recommend printing with 0.2mm layer height.

Also, slow down your print speed when printing the leaves and other small figurines.  Lastly, I highly recommend printing with wood or brown filaments to get the authentic wooden appearance.

Assembly Tips

The assembly is pretty simple since most parts press-fit together. The one area I recommend using some glue is to connect the motor axle to the bottom of the disk. Otherwise, it's designed so the motor is replaceable, so just be sure not to glue the candle mount to the arch base.

The leaves print flat and you can use them that way, or, to achieve the look of my example, you can gently fold them. I recommend using a heat gun or hair dryer to gently warm them before attempting to bend the print, but be careful and don't melt them instead.

Great Model - boosted! Only problem is that the blades are not snapfits, makes it not easy to store

Thanks! I can fix that. You want the blades to snap in and out so you can remove them for storage?

Exactly, I glued them in for the current version. But it would make more sense to stow them away if they fit more precisely, although you can take them apart again. In addition, please for small dots for the eyes ;)

Excellent model, a pity it cannot be rotated without a motor

Yeah, my original design didn't use a motor but I ended up including one since there was too much friction (would need bearings) and weight on the rotating assembly for candles to work. Using LED candles makes it safer too, which is a nice perk.
