This is a wire soldering jig, measuring 70*50*30mm.

It boasts rapid printing, robust clamping, and satisfying tactile feedback.

Features:

  • Compact and practical, with rapid printing—only 1 hour print time and 30g of filament required.
  • Exceptional clamping force ensures stable wire retention.
  • The spring mechanism produces a satisfying click, and the two buttons offer a pleasing tactile experience.
  • The clamping jaws feature an anti-slip design and close perfectly.
  • Aside from the spring, all components are printed in one piece; simply install the spring from below.
  • The robust and durable body resists breakage, while its compact and portable design also serves as a satisfying fidget tool.

*This model, from design to testing, is tailored for FDM 3D printers, cleverly leveraging techniques such as nesting and bridging. Assembly requires only the installation of the spring; the slot design prevents the spring from dislodging during use, while the clamps exhibit substantial holding power—they won’t budge.

*The satisfying click is produced by the spring's compression and slight rearward movement, and may vary depending on the filament used.

*I dedicated two months to meticulously crafting this soldering jig, enduring over ten iterations of failures (due to functional issues, improper dimensions, excessive parts, user-unfriendliness, and aesthetic shortcomings). After numerous refinements and test prints, I decided to finalize these two designs. I hope you enjoy this model!

*On January 15, 2025, I released a complementary upright stand for this model (https://makerworld.com/en/models/996004#profileId-972323). As not all users require this, I opted to release it separately rather than including it in this model.

Does ASA printing offer higher strength?

ASA it's better for high temperatures things, i solder small cables, they might become hot, so its better not to use a material that deform at 60° like PLA. PLA is good too but for those application i prefear stronger materials

Are your springs ASA too? Wondering if ASA has the right stiffness for the springs.

I did it in PLA too but springs permanently deformed at first use. pressed them like 4-5mm.

Awesome design. Printed without any isseus and its working great. Printed the body as the spring in PLA. Used light gray for the body and red for the spring, both Bambulab PLA filament.

Printed nicely, and wonderful print to hold wires away from my fingers while soldering! only downside is the clamps are a bit wide so smaller wires are a bit harder to work with, but overall the profile printed out great!

Thank you for your understanding, the extra space is to allow for soldering, it would be difficult to work with less space

Very nice! Clever design, easy print. I was using a stand with 2 alligator clips. This works much better, The added plus is I learned a bit about how to design for 3d printing. Thanks! I used the stock 0.28mm height. No special settings.
