Lightweight Anycubic, SUNLU and JAYO Spool Adapter - just 28g and 1h15min print!
I bought some Anycubic filaments on plastic spools and I needed adapter to mount them on AMS Lite. After checking adapters for that brand here I was sure I don’t want anything taking 3 hours to print and 100g of filament :) I also didn’t want any 2-pieces, 3 pieces or anything that would interfere with the operation of this clever 3-claw spool holder mechanism. It has to press against the spool. Not against some tube, which then deppending on a design, accuracy, tolerances and shapes, better or less holding a spool.
I also found this particular spools problematic, because thy’re not symmetrical! The hole on one side is around 72-72.3mm (yes! it differ from spool to spool) to around 73-73.5mm on the other side. No any tube will do it right, unless is non symmetrical too and designed for exact size of your current spool.
So there is my solution to this problem. Three arm design, hold by ring with cutouts which make it elastic. This let the 3-claws on your AMS Lite spool holder to press arms against the spool, with hole size range between 72-74mm (probably even 75mm), using arms as extentions and keep your spool tight no matter which direction adapter is inserted.
With 28g in weight and just 1h15m print time it makes it also one of the lightest and fastest to print adapter.
This adapter is compatible with:
Anycubic plastic spools, both black and transparent,
SUNLU old style plastic spools, still widely available on the internet,
JAYO plastic spools with the same shape design,
Any other brand spools with the hole between 72-74mm and width of 60-61mm.
How to use this adapter:
1. Insert adapter to the spool from desired direction
2. Line up adapter arms with AMS Lite 3-claw holder (there are little lips at the edge of each arm to help you with that)
3. Push the adapter with 3 fingers untill it is fully attached to the rotary spool holder
Check my photos if something is unclear for you.
As some people prefer tighter connection I prepared 2 versions of this adapter:
- Regular is easier to insert and taking off from the AMS Lite. Great if you use it as standing by the printer.
- Tighter version is what I prefer and I recommend it to all „top mount” A1 AMS Lite users.
If you like the model and you want to give it thumbs up, please also consider downloading it. It cost you just one additional click and it’s very important to me. Also check my other models, maybe you will find something interesting :) Thank you!
Happy printing! :)
