Description

I wanted to wall mount my AMS Lite and really liked the idea of a pivoting mount so it would be easier to replace filament spools.

@egil.opsahl did a great job of modifying some of the parts using Fusion 360. He was nice enough to provide me with the .f3d file (Thanks again!) and I decided to modify it further:

  • I wanted to use the original 5/8" bolt so I changed the holes back to accommodate.
  • I found a printable 5/8" bolt, washer, & nut using Easy Bolt (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6308320). Thank you to jbruce12000.
  • Strengthened the pivot component further and removed from overhangs so there were less support needed.
  • Changed the screw holes on the wall mount plate from 4 to 2. I wanted to ensure that the 2 would hit the stud on my wall. I used 3" construction screws to mount the plate.

The print profile uses the .20mm Strength profile with Gyroid infill. The 5/8" bolt I used 100% infill just to be sure it was stronger - perhaps overkill? This is my first ever post/remix and have really enjoyed my A1 so far. Thank you,

has anyone had an issue with the piece that attaches to the AMS coming off the bed and just becoming a pile of loose filiament? Its happened twice at the same spot on the part. I've cleaned the bed and actually moved each part to a new plate so that they printed separately.Tthis worked for the wall mount, the pivot and the bolt, however, when I get to the attach point/mount, it seems to fall apart. I always find it on the floor with he printer non the wiser? Any tips? 3rd times a charm, I guess?

Sorry to hear this. I've printed that part 3-4 times with no problems. With or without supports. Some questions: what brand/type filament are you using? What filament profile are you using with that filament? PETG is my preferred and the bed temp is 70 on the textured plate. What plate are you using and is the bed temp appropriate for it? Vibration could also be a factor. Is your printer on a solid table that doesn't move much? You could try doing a calibration of your printer and/or place a brim.

This happened to me on my first print at about 70% of the way through. I printed my second try on a my Panda Cryogrip plate and it came out flawlessly.

I adjusted the print speed down to 50% and added some brims and it printed perfectly, I may need to set my printer on some sort of iso table since it sits on just a plywood table that is mounted to the wall so there is no allowance for vibrations. I suspect that was ultimately the cause of my issues. Once I figured it out it printed with no issues! I would still recommend breaking this up into multiple plates just in so your printer isn't tied up for the full 11+ hours, but I needed to be able to swap between projects as the day went on so it made more sense for me to do that, maybe not for everyone! Thanks for the feedback!

Had an issue with the bolt breaking where the threads meet the shoulder, as I was replacing it with a steel bolt, I put a little to much force on the wall mount, and broke the lower ear off. I've redrawn the mount and used fillets in the corners to add some strength, also increase the infill to 35% I'm in the middle of reprinting it now, so I'll let you know how it worked out. Still loving it so far.

Perfect solution for hanging the AMS lite next to my desk. Best thing I've printed yet. Printed perfectly in PETG, I just added little clip to the back side to hold the cable in place. this frees up a ton of space and rotates enough to move out of the way and then forward enough to easily swap rolls on the back side. Bought a 1meter AMS lite extension cable on aliexpress for a few bucks.

Sorry to hear this. I've printed that bolt a couple times with no problems using PETG, PLA+ on the textured PEI plate. It sounds like an adhesion problem. I've got 2 of them hanging on the wall now. I had one misprint, but printed fine the 2nd time.
