Description

Gift Box

Hidden hinge with bow tie

A small box with hidden hinge 50mm x 50 mm x 45mm. Has a locking mechanism integrated with hidden hinge for stack or store with multiple same items. Due to it's small dimension is recommended as a gift box for jewelry like earrings, rings, small necklaces or what you have in mind for a small box like this. The box is composed from 2 parts and the bow tie slides over from 2 parts and 2 pins. The pins have the role as a secondary lock and feet for the box to sit properly. It does not have some supports inside for a specific item but on request in can provide any type of support you require. No support needed for print.

For the hinge is required a 2mm steel rod or a 2 mm steel wire ( can be aluminum or copper what you have in hand). It is mandatory to be 2mm for the locking mechanism to work. There are low tolerances.

Printed well, for sure, looks great, very good last minute present box due to low print time. For me, the bottom taps printed a bit too tight so it's a sliiight challenge to remove then once put in, but not impossible. Perhaps the reverse shape might've made it more reliable/easier to grip to remove, but I suppose it comes down to aesthetics as well ^^ Edit: after putting in and taking out the "taps" a few times and using a small amount of wax they now work perfectly.

Glad you like it. I feel what you are saying. After the first print had the same thought process and decided to keep it this way. If i made it easier to remove it would had fallen and I'm always thinking at usability. Had made one for earnings and necklace set ... but it might be to late to post it.

No, no, it's perfectly fine. After all, it can be slightly sanded down afterwards if needed, or just "worked in" etc. There a ton of ways to fix it as long as the design/print is good, and yours was! ^^ Happy Holidays! ^^
