Description

After looking around for a multiboard compatible drill holder, I couldnt find anything I liked as the vast majority seem to mount the drill sideways taking up valuble space on my multiboard. I really liked the Milwaukee Packout style of holder and decided I wanted something similar. This was the design I settled on.

How is the Drill Holder Mounted?

It is mounted using the multipoint system. I have mine mounted using 4 bolt locked inserts (1 in each corner) using Moderate Weight Snaps for the bottom 2 and Heavy Weight Snaps for the upper 2. This might be a little overkill but it has sat on my wall for a week without any signs of failing.

What is included?

The included print profile includes 4 plates;

- 1 for the drill holder itself
- 1 includes 6 custom made interchangeble front panels
- 1 includes a blank front panel

- 1 includes all the extras required to secure the front panel and mount the holder to a multiboard.

Customisable Interchangable Front Panels

These Panels are connected using 7x Outer Wall Pins (Included on one of the Plates), the current available panels are;

  • Milwaukee
  • Bosch
  • Makita (2 versions)
  • Dewalt
  • Ryobi

Fantastic main body design and I love the Interchangeable front panels! I might try to add the word "Fuel" on the Milwaukee panel just to match the logo on my tools, but it's not necessary as this panel looks great as is! I am a big fan of Multiboard, but for my hand tools, I prefer to mount them on a French Cleat wall above my workbench instead of on a Multiboard wall. So, here's what I did: Since I am mounting this Universal Drill Holder to a French Cleat wall, I needed to first mount it to a piece of plywood and then pop a French Cleat on the back. To accomplish this, I needed to use different hardware than what comes with this download. I used: 8 x Screw-On Mount - Multipoint 8 x Screw-On Mount- Multipoint Rings - XL Using Bambu Studio and the XL Multipoint Rings, I first selected and then Merged the Rings (doing 2 at a time), then used the Mesh Boolean to connect all 8 of them together to match the pattern on the back of the Universal Drill Holder's main body. The spacing is perfect! This allowed me to have a single "mounting bracket" that could be attached to a surface - plywood in my case, but it could also be mounted directly to the wall. This single mounting bracket is just made up of 8 XL Screw-On Mount- Multipoint Rings. FILAMENT: Because this will be in a hot garage (Texas heat is real y'all) I printed the main body of the Universal Drill Holder in ABS and the front panel in Matte PLA. I used PETG HF for the mounting hardware, though I could have used ABS for a little added strength. Here's where to download the hardware files I used: Screw-On Mount - Multipoint https://thangs.com/designer/Multiboard/3d-model/Screw-On%2520Mount%2520-%2520Multipoint-1133298 Screw-On Mount- Multipoint Rings https://thangs.com/designer/Multiboard/3d-model/Screw-On%2520Mount-%2520Multipoint%2520Rings-1133297

Glad you like it! And nice explanation of how you have mounted it. I did toy with the idea of creating multiple mounting options, but unfortunately being pretty new to Fusion I havent exactly used the best methods when designing it so I have made it pretty difficult to easily edit the files lol. I may remake this in the future, using correct methods, and release multiple mounting options and potentially a "lightweight" version to try and cut down on the filament used.

This looks awesome, any idea if it would be hard to make work for HSW?

Screw-On Mount- Multipoint with Screw-On Mount- Multipoint Rings should work (can be found on Thangs) but would require screwing into whatever is behind your HSW (or anywhere you can screw into, wouldnt need the rings if mounting direct to a wall) I cannot find any snap adapters to make Multipoint work with HSW unfortunately, only adapters to allow HSW parts to be mounted to Multiboard.
