Description

This is moon light and clock combo I designed for myself and decided to share with you all.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Print the 4 plates.

Put the moon surface on the base and attach everything together with the clock mechanism.

You can now put the LED strip on the inside and outside rim of the base.

Put the cover frame on top of everything - seal it with a bit of superglue.

Put it on a wall and enjoy!

Awesome make. Do you mind sharing where you got the Starship files from? Paid or not, I'd like to print that model for display on my desk at work next to my Stardesk. Thank you.

This is pretty awesome. I just had to change the clock hands because they didn't fit. Bambu PLA grey Matt for the moon, Black esun matt for the rim.

After the second layer, it prints on the right side of the image as shown. I couldn't figure it out, can you help me?

Probably the overhangs are failing to print. There are multiple solutions, but I would first try Adaptive layer height and manually "paint" in the max possible resolution for the first few layers. You can also try using the automatic Adaptive layer height, should get you better results. If this fails, try it in Orcaslicer, there's a setting called "Make overhangs printable". It changes the geometry a tiny bit, just so much that it prints smoothly. Let me know how it goes!

Nice model, looks really good. Had the overhang issue, popped the outer ring into OrcaSlicer and set 'Make Overhangs Printable' in the Quality settings and it came out great. It would be nice to have some kind of strain relief where the cord comes out to take pressure off of the USB Wire. I used a different clock movement, and drafted up and printed out some clock hands with a second hand as well. Thanks for the great design!
