Description

This is a flexible, articulated wolf 🐺 It prints in place with no supports or assembly required. This was one of my very first flexible designs - and it is still very wiggly and makes for a fun desk companion :)

Since creating my first articulated models, I've learned a lot and continued to refine my designs. So if you enjoy this model, be sure to also check out my new and improved flexi designs (there is even a new wolf with more detail and improved poseability).

Used Bambu studio to paint the eyes, nose, inner ear and gave him little paw pads! printed perfectly!

Bambu Studio shows a warning for both Designer Print Profiles; "It seems object floppy_wolf_v2.stl has floating cantilever. Please re-orient the object or enable support generation." Because the profile already has lots of thought through adjustments I wondered why supports aren't turned on in the profile also, so this warning doesn't show? Should I simply switch on supports so the warning goes away?

floating cantilever is from inside the joints. no supports needed and the warning can be ignored.

As mentioned in another comment, the warning can be ignored. The model is designed to print without supports. You can see a timelapse of the print here: https://youtu.be/RO4AJJjg44k?si=Ssagmp6n50ofwbcd

You’re absolutely right! For most print-in-place models, you can usually ignore that message. Personally, I like to add just a little bit of manual support in the joints to prevent any bridge sagging. It’s not strictly necessary, but I find it helps make the finished piece look a bit more polished and clean—and the supports are usually super easy to remove!

He printed very well and once I painted him, he looked Even better! The only thing I don’t like is that the front elbow joints don’t bend very far. But otherwise a really good print.
