Description

Gen 3 is available NOW :)

https://makerworld.com/en/models/905229

please use Gen 3 , its has some improvement overthere :)

-----

important : there are hundreds of filament brands, theres no chance i can check every one of them out

Print one set first ( that's why theres only one set in the profile ) , try it first

message me if theres anything can be adjusted for your needs

-----

I do take every feedback seriously , so here's the new version of my AMS saver

Basic idea still the same, keep the filament at center ,  should be less chance to get stuck

the guide head move closer to the spool when AMS pull the filament, so the spool wont jumping around “too much

what's New

its easier to print, easier support remove, cleaner surface

fit most brand filament , smaller head, add a pair of wing prevent filament got stuck from rewind

build in large feeder nut, easier loading filaments

Modular design, can swap parts for different needs , can also adjust it shorter or longer for higher angle

and change a lot more little details

and the most important part ! It looks better :)

every feedback counts, if you run into any issues , leave a message so I know where needs to be fix

after all, I hope all of us can get a good sleep by not worrying about filament got stuck again :)

this one still work with 140mm PTFE tube

please make sure the one you are using is 2.5mm inner diameter

(come with your AMS system)

smaller diameter tube just won't work

make sure you wait till your print plate cool down before you remove anything on it

PLA is really soft at higher temperature, it might just crack at somewhere you wont even notice it

-----

here's how you install it

This AMS Saver doesn't fit " Sunlu Jayo " spools!!!!

Update Dec 08: two color chain profile for phone app

new guide head profile with PTFE tube under it

Update Dec 09 : Little adjustment at feeder nuts for smoother loading

Update Dec 10:  adjust guide head size for some people couldn't close lid with full spool

new guide head in print profile aswell

UPdate Dec 27: adjust the feeder nut to Gen3 for better fits

hey rsmyth, I just checked, that's some really big hole, you can take down those two little wing, then it shouldn't have anything to catch

I'll give it a try, also I left you the inner width size of a jayo spool on the v1 of your model

too bad, unfortunately it is not Hydra Pro compatible makerworld.com/en/models/100212 The flap can no longer be closed like this.

looks like hydra pro move the gear box by few mm forward , should be a easy adjustment, any chance you can move the foot toward spool a bit and let me know how far it should go? I can get a special foot fit your needs :)

when I push the component back 5mm to slide it on, it looks like this and the cover closes.

Can you please take a picture like this but have the feeder nut removed? Thanks 😊

I really wanted this to be "the one", but it jams up almost immediately. It'll need to be pointed at the tip significantly in order to prevent this from happening. I love the little wings that you replace instead of the main head, maybe there's a way to incorporate it still?

is that sunlu jayo spool?

Anycubic, but I think all of them would work after pointing the tip in more, the rest of it prevents it from going out the side too far.

I'm using the slim tip as well

printed good. for some reason it didn't work for me. it cause my ams 1 slot to jam and grind up the filament so I had to remove it.

try with only two chains and there’s a print profile with two small wings for your guide head let me know how it works out for you :)

7/8 of my nut are setting flat, one off by 0.2mm, I'll do some test print now and adjust the file :) thank you :)

thank you for continually revising. I'll check back in a few days and probably print the latest. This is what makes the difference between a good idea and a great execution.

I think i still have some tweaking to do as it doesn't quite seem right as the filliment rolls are moving (the rolls that come with the P1S) and I don't like having the lights covered up. though I'm not sure of a way around that 🤷‍♂️

now you know why I use transparent filament for the feeder nut :))) your spool holder shouldn’t moving around by any chance, check it if you got caught on the bottom of AMS, there’s a notch keep it in the place

Replying to @Ankochiu :
I'll have to add that to my list. is there a way to just print the feeder nut?

Nice take on the AMS saver and my Smoot AMS Gen 2. You are talented, and I have to give it a try. Does your design add the first-stage motor?

Just attach on the gearbox underneath it, I guess that’s the only place works for it :) I like your style and color 🥰

easy to print. Don't know if this is user error but I struggled with the AMS/ printer complaining about the filament being to heavy to pull. resulting in pausing the prints multiple times so I had to remove it again.

check your tube size, are you using the tube come with AMS? any other thing is tube might be bending due to imperfections print somewhere inside of the chain you can try GEN3 , it has more room for tube to move around :)

Such a useful tool with a cool design! Works great so far. Is there any downside to passing the filament through the joints without a PTFE tube (as pictured here)?

nonono, don't do it without PTFE tube. your filament is going to stuck somewhere
