Description

Printing Recommendation:

  • The lids can be rotated 180 degrees on the X-axis to achieve a better surface finish afterwards.
  • Update 10.12.2024: I experienced problems with the card holder lids on the A1, therefore I uploaded then alternative version with an easier bird design for safe printing.

Important note: The lids on the images are a little bit different, I switched to dovetail lids.

The Spielefürst "Vogelgezwitscher" Insert | for Wingspan including all three expansions is the perfect accessory for all fans of the popular board game Wingspan. This high-quality insert ensures a smooth and organized experience during setup, teardown, and gameplay.

The insert provides ample space not only for all the components of the Wingspan base game but also for the materials from the European, Oceania, and Asia expansions. It has been meticulously designed to ensure every resource and card is neatly and properly sorted.

In the individual boxes of the insert, different resources like invertebrates, seeds, fish, fruits, rodents, and nectar are stored in an organized manner.

The card holders with lids offer sufficient space for bird cards, Automa cards, and bonus cards. This ensures your cards are not only securely stored but also easily accessible during the game. Sleeved cards also fit into the card holders, though there may not be enough room for all cards in that case. These holders allow all cards from the base game and all expansions to be stored in one box.

The eggs are housed in two boxes featuring an elegant wooden engraving pattern. This not only adds an appealing aesthetic but also prevents the eggs from rolling around on the table.

The markers for your actions, along with the first-player marker, are stored in a dedicated box that can be placed above the two egg boxes.

The game’s dice are stored in the birdhouse of the insert, which also includes a special holder for the goal tiles. This ensures that these essential game components are always within reach.

The insert also provides space for five player boards, the score pad, and the three rulebooks. With everything needed for a game of Wingspan in one place, setting up the game becomes incredibly simple with this Wingspan insert.

The insert is designed so that the lid of the Wingspan game box closes flush without any overhang. This keeps the game compact and storage-friendly.

With the Wingspan insert, setting up, tearing down, and playing the game is elevated to a new level. It simplifies the organization of game components and saves valuable time that you can spend enjoying the game itself.

Please note that additional components, such as alternative player boards, birdbaths, or material for two players from Wingspan: Asia, should be stored in their respective expansion boxes for optimal organization.

I love the design of these. The only problem is that the lids don't fit tight enough and will slide out of the containers, allowing the pieces to spill. I'm using rubber bands to hold them closed. I only have the base Wingspan, so I didn't print all of the containers. I flipped the lids 180 degrees (except for the goal tiles one) and I enabled supports. Since I used a smooth 3D effect plate, I had to reduce the initial layer speed to half and increase the initial layer temperature by 10 degrees.

Interesting, this is then using different kind of filaments. I can upload ones, that are fitting mode close today.

I used Inland Matte PLA (peach) and Bambu Lab Basic PLA (blue gray).

I uploaded the lids again in a seperate folder with an offset of only 0.1mm instead of 0.3mm.

This is an excellent model. I love how it turned out. I don't have any expansions, so I held off on printing two of the bird boxes. My only feedback is that the lids are a little loose. I think it could be tightened up just a touch, but still at 5/5 print. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your awesome feedback! Did you try out the more tight lids in the files? I uploaded them later due to a request. I like them more loose because in the box they won't come off, and it is easier to slide them out on the table later. But also filament is behaving differently of course :)

I didn't try that. But honestly I have no regrets. Love the end result and have gotten great feedback from others when I open the box as well. Thanks!

One of my first prints and the thing I was looking forward to. We only had 4 rolls of filament so the colors are a bit wild. The lids slide on easily but also off easily. We don't have both expansions so the boxes have some room...good excuse to get the other expansion!

Turned out really good, the details look great.

This print is really great! if I could make a small recommendation. I would flip the lids on most of the boxes to print so that the notch starts on the flat surface and is not an open hole that is later filled in and creates a stringy look due to no supports. Obviously the other alternative is to add supports but I don’t think it’s necessary if you just have the lid print upside down.

You are absolutely right. As I already mentioned it in the description as an alternative way, I should not have them included already turned 180 degrees in the print profile. I updated that!

I've observed two issues with a rotated top: the beak of the bird isn't stable, and the finger holes are trapezoidal and not rectangular. The texture is better, though, and more than makes up for those issues.
