This is a Remix of Removable Lables by andrepaduas ( Maker World )
After printing a bunch of the original Gridfinitys, i quickly realized printing them with labels on, was wasting a lot of filament ( Bambu labs, has no experimental setting, so needed to print the whole whole block plus the text ).
After looking for solutions i ran across andrepaduas fantastic version of the gridfinity system:
Removable Lables (Maker World)
&
Gridfinity bins
Only issue i had was that i need the surface to be flush to minimize filament wastage.
I made the surface flat so it could be used for text with out supports.
In this i will explain to you how to make flush text, on the flatten label provided.
A big thank you to Will_i_Am as he did a lot of the heavy lifting as to how to do this from his information provided Flush text in Bambu Studio, i also converted this to prusa slicer, but its pritty much the same only with some slight changes.
I have made a list on how to do it on Bambu labs, and on Prusa slicer
Bambu Labs
1.) Once loaded into labs use the text to make what you need, i have left a picture here for the settings i used
Keep the same Thickness & Embedded depth (0.50) as me as you don't want the text doing all the ways though. other settings can be changed to what you want, just make sure it fits on the plate.
2.) If you want to get this as center as you can on the left hand side right click on the individual parts and center them (both of them). once done move it up and down to where you want.
Make sure you have what you want, where you want it before you go any further.
3.) Right click on the text Object ( in this case its called text_shape ),
Change Type → switch to “Modifier”
4.) Change to what color you want by right clicking on the number or color next to the object.
5.) Use the “lay on face” tool ( top of the window ). click on the face with the text on. this will turn the object upside down. With will save you filament, and also have a flush face
6.) Your ready to slice! just be aware the text may not look like its in the object but after slicing you will see that it has!
As a side note, always check that the text looks clean on the slicer, if not, it will come out bad on the print. Bigger text is always clearer.
You should not need any supports, and i always add a brim just as a guarantee with printing thin objects
Prusa Slicer:
there are two methods to this:
Method 1:
Only attempt the first method if you know what you are doing, as this can cause damage to your print or machine if done wrong. If you dont know skip this part.
As a side note there is a function in Prusa slicer called “No Sparse Layers” ( print settings → multiple extruders → Wipe Tower ). This will make the machine, not print between layers on the purge tower. if you choose to do this make sure there is a lot of room between the purge tower and the print.
Method 2:
1.) Import STL
2.) Right Click on part → Add Part → Text
3.) Add Text to where needed and wanted and make sure to select Modifier in the operation
4.) make sure the text dose not go all the way though the object.
5.) Change colour
6.) Use the Place on face tool to turn the object upside down
7.) Get Slicing and Printing!
Thanks again to andrepaduas for a great system & Will_i_am for the information needed.
