Description

This is wall mounted moon lamp, which illuminates the litophane of the moon and also lights up the space around it!

You'll a need 1.5 meter LED strip - preferably COB for nice smooth, continous lighting.

Print the base and the moon litophane in white - I prefer a matt finish.

For the frame - it uses two colors: 1. the color of the frame itself, which could be anything you want and 2. transparent filament, so that the light can shine on the wall around the moon.

Loop the LED strip on the interior side of the base and then on the exterior, place on a wall and enjoy in your personal moonlight!

Looks good! You could also try printing the rim in a more darker/solid color, so that the infill won't be exposed by the light. Thank you!

Great Design, looks really nice! Printed it as a present, it was very well received! :) Only thing my wife was not quite happy with: The two-colored outer rim. The light going to the outside looks great, but the white being visible from the side is not quite ideal. Maybe I will try to replicate the effect with a very thin black rim or some sort of taper for the light to shine through? Anyway, still awesome, thanks a lot!

Yeah that's a challenge that could be tackled in various ways. I printed it in wood filament (so that the internal structure doesn't light up) with a transparent ring to let it shine around, but this could be eliminated entirely and like you said, just use a taper or something. I only wanted to do it with this transparent part is so that the LED strip wouldn't be visible and therefore the whole model should look a bit cleaner. Any way, thank you for your support, wish you all the best!

I have printed all parts, but I do not understand how I wire it all together. I understand that I do the strip first on the inside rim on the base, and then the outside rim of the base. But how do I then get the wiring underneath the moon? And should there be lights under the moon?

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, holidays and everything... First you look the LED light strip like you said - on the inside then loop in on the outside. There's a groove in the lower part. Then you should just place the Moon lithophane on top and that should be it... Let me know if I can help you in any other way!

Hello, but should the LEDs be placed inside or outside the moon

The LED strip is meant to go around both the outside and inside. just start on the inside, loop it around, through the hole and finish the outside loop.
