Description

Bring the magic of the Mushroom Kingdom to your holiday celebrations with our new and improved Super Mario Star Christmas Tree Topper! Inspired by the iconic Mario 64 star, this beautiful design is sure to light up your tree and your holiday spirit. Major thanks to the Makerworld community for contributing feedback, leading to this new and improved design!

Same Benefits:

  • Beautiful Design: Modeled after the beloved Mario 64 star.
  • Lightweight: Weighs only 150 grams, making it easy to place on any tree.

New Benefits:

  • Easy Printing: Prints standing up with no supports, saving material and eliminating previous reported issues.
  • One-Piece Star Model: No need for glue, as the star is now a single unit (Note: Eyes still require to be taped or glued on).
  • Single Optimized Stand: Fits 99%+ of trees and connects securely, holding the star proud and tall. No need to pick between the two versions anymore.

UPDATE: We have heard lots of feedback that although people love the model, the surface quality was lacking. So we rebuilt it from the ground up and just released a brand new, premium quality model that is available on Cults3D. You can find the model here if you're interested in upgrading the surface quality of your star this holiday season: 3MF file Super Mario Christmas Tree Star Topper (N64 Version) 🎄 ・3D printer design to download・Cults

Bonus: If you have already printed the base with this model, fortunately it is fully compatible with the new premium model so you can save unnecessary print time. Cheers!

Thanks for the Super Mario Star! I originally printed the older version with the 2 star pieces split but the kids asked if I could install lights on it. The lights didn’t shine well through gold silk so I reprinted this new version in white! The Twinkly Dots LEDs make the star look like the star is activated and now matches the rest of the kids tree!

That looks absolutely amazing! Great job! How did you get lights inside it? Battery powered?

The Twinkly Dots are just fancier WiFi led fairy lights. I just shoved them through the bottom hole of the star and base at the same time. The Dots have a USB end for power so yeah, you can technically run them off a battery pack if you don’t want them plugged into an outlet.

I tried to convert one of the videos to a gif but it didn’t work too well. The lights in action make the star look even better!

Tried to print it multiple times, adjusting settings. The support always fails before the two arms of the stars can connect. Using Bambulab PLA Gold Silk. EDIT: If this happens to you, turn the AUX fan off when printing!

Currently printing this using the provided profile, seems fine to me and I'm using the same filament as you. Have you cleaned your bed with IPA before printing?

Yes, unfortunately. Did you change any parameter?

No parameter changes, but after a successful print of the star, I modified the values for the eyes and holder. What printer are you using? I'm on a P1S, which has an enclosed space. Could it potentially be a heat issue? Additionally, you could also move the star back about 10-20mm to see if it sticks to that spot a little better. Edit: I'm also using a smooth PEI plate as opposed to a textured PEI plate.

This was my first Long/multiple piece print that I’ve done since getting my A1 on Wednesday. I used Inland Yellow PLA. You really did the damn thing with this! It turned out so clean I feel like I’m in Mario Party! Thanks so much for updating the design too. I initially started with the last version, and woke up to a yellow stringy mess lol, but this model did the trick. It looks great on the tree too (up too early? who cares lol happy holidays!)

I als o had problems printing this on my A1 with sunlu pla silk. Two completely failed attempts and the third only a small part of the top failed. Got a little creative and maybe this looks even better

I'm sorry to hear that :( - Did you try slowing down the print? I've seen many others get success that way :)

I did and that's how we got here. I'm pretty happy with the hat now though 😅

Hmmm, what type of build plate did you use? To your point, the hat is pretty bomb, so no worries either way! Cheers

Unfortunately it’s to heavy for my tree, but love the design

You could try it without the base? Some people have said it works better direct on the tree

First print (without Aux fan, as suggested), without support, failed. The brim did not hold and it rocked back and forth near the top. Second print, with tree slim support, flawless print. So, I would recommend supports for printing. My printer: Bambu P1S, 0.6 nozzle, 0.18mm, all other settings imported with the print profile.

Then I would remove this from the description... "Easy Printing: Prints standing up with no supports"

I had to do the same. But I also had to uncheck "Support critical regions only"

A very good impression, a little heavy for our plastic tree, but it does the job very well

No issues with the print, used a 10mm brim on the feet stayed in place for entire print, used fuzzy skin 0.5/0.2 setting and it turned out brilliantly in yellow PLA, glued the eyes with E6000, I opted not to use CA glue on the black eyes as it can leave a white residue. Eyes printed perfectly and fit with no tolerance issues. Printed on X1C with 0.2mm custom settings took about 7.5 hrs print everything, 4-5 hours for the star itself, I also used ironing on the eyes for a smoother finish

This is pretty awesome. I think you should upload this as a print profile cause I'm sure a lot of people would love it too.
