Description

Hi,

I’m sharing my “vision” and version of a well-accepted design in the community for the AMS Lite vertical stand.

My design is based on the original solutions found here:

However, I’ve made some modifications to improve usability and compatibility.

The main goal was to make the base compatible with the Gridfinity system while also making the space below the stand more functional. This allows for the storage of tools, nozzles, silicone socks, and other items. Additionally, if you're already using Gridfinity in other areas like drawers or cabinets, you can store the bins elsewhere when needed.

Key Features and Changes:

  1. Redesigned Base for Gridfinity Compatibility:
    • To align with the Gridfinity grid spacing, the base had to be slightly narrower.
    • This design improves usability and makes the stand more versatile.
  2. Modified Stand Structure:
    • The original design didn’t allow installation of the AMS Lite on both ends, as the screw hole was only on one side. My redesign includes screw holes on both sides, ensuring extra stability regardless of placement.
    • The stand's height has been increased to make it easier to access items stored beneath it.
  3. Custom Bins:
I redesigned the included bins to better suit my needs, while drawing inspiration from other designs:
    • AMS Lite Vertical Cover
      Based on this model.
    • Silicone Sock Storage
My version is 2x1x2U, inspired by this design.
    • Hotend Storage
My version is 2x2x2U, inspired by this design.
    • Filament Cutter Blade Storage
My version is 1x1x2U with 8 slots, inspired by this design.
    • Tool Storage
My version is 4x2x2U, with fixed dimensions, inspired by this design.
  4. Lids

I include with this lids to cover the base. I offer base options to use with and without lids.

  5. Front and back orientation

I've included Bambulab logos to indicate the correct position of the AMS lite. the base has a logo too, however is not mandatory for the overall orientation.

If you’d like to modify or create your own bins, MakerWorld offers plenty of options. For Fusion 360 users, there’s even a plugin to parametrically create Gridfinity grids and bins:
Gridfinity Plugin for Fusion 360.

Compatibility Note:

This design stand and base is not compatible with other bases or rotating stands due to constraints introduced by the Gridfinity system.

I hope you find this design helpful! It has significantly improved my daily 3D printing workflow, and I hope it enhances yours as well.

NOTE: if you find the tolerances too high where the base and stand meet…use what you might find usefull to shim the spacing. Personally I dont find the need for it, it's stable enough!

It's perfect, perhaps it wobbles slightly when the machine is printing side to side, and it would be advisable to add more infill to the support area to make it more stable and rigid, but even so, it's very good and fulfills its function I've added some pieces for the drawer covers to be able to pull them out properly 10/10

thank you. it wobbles but you can shim a bit to stop it! done find the need for more infill! it’s stable enough. if it moves around the table place it closer to the printer or add some anti slip patches to the base

Perhaps my explanation was unclear, it's sufficiently stable but the bottom (hollow part) where the second piece fits, if it had more material, even if it consumed more filament, it would provide more rigidity and perhaps more stability since the center of gravity is quite high and when the machine works quickly and from side to side, the tubes connected to the extruder cause it to oscillate (slightly) without actually moving from its position This is just an additional observation Thank you for the model, it's very useful

@Alta3DpStudio This looks good. I'm almost done printing but I had a question. I saw this feature, "My redesign includes screw holes on both sides, ensuring extra stability regardless of placement" However, looking at the AMS lite, even if there are screw holes on both end of the base, there is still only a screw on one side of the AMS lite, so what's the other side screw hole for?

in case you flip the ams, the screw will be on the opposite side! the reason to flip it is the have “more” cable available

that’s why I’ve both hole. to allow flipping the ams

the original design didn’t allow this

I'll get the A1 mini soon. My first 3d printer. So I can't print this project because objects are too larges. Anyone could print this for a dummy like me? How much could it costs?

Is there a lighter version? 1+ kg for this project is an entire spool of filament… is it possible to have a version where the accessories and compartments of the base are less “full”?

you can always download the 3mf and change the infill for the compartiments. I don’t advise!

BTW, 1Kg is for the five plates all together...version with lids is 850+/-, without lidas is 650+/-...so...none of the versions uses 1kg of filament!

Double boost, beautiful and extremely useful. Question, but did the original screw also not tighten well for you? It enters a short distance and doesn't screw in tightly, it remains loose... or did you not even screw it in with the screw. Thank you in advance and thank you for the project

thank you! it should be in all the way in, and the you tight it. you should not tight too much or the holder may break on the spot. if you can’t tight it completely don’t use that feature, and leave the screw in it’s standard place, it is part of the ams assembly
