IKEA Navlinge Lamp Cover: Outer Ring + Inner Core/Diffuser

What This Is

This is a two-piece cover for the Navlinge lamp:

  • Outer Ring: Print this in a color that matches your lamp.
  • Inner Core/Diffuser: Print this in white (or experiment with other colors) to diffuse the light.

The separate pieces let you mix and match colors and fine-tune the light diffusion by adjusting how you print the diffuser.

Printing Tips

  • Outer Ring: Pick a color to match your lamp, and you're good to go!
  • Inner Core/Diffuser: White filament works best for diffusing light. Black PLA (using default print profiles) is too opaque and blocks too much light. Experiment with different colors and settings to tweak the brightness and diffusion to your liking.

Dialing in the Light

The inner core/diffuser can be reprinted and customized to achieve the perfect level of dimming.

  • I recommend a hexagonal infill because it looks cool and gives a nice light effect, but you can try other patterns like grid, spiral, or Hilbert curve.
  • Adjust infill density and wall count to control how much light shines through. More infill = dimmer light; less infill = brighter light.

Color Combos

  • White Core + Black Ring: The black ring blocks side light for a cleaner glow.
  • All White: The core will glow softly from the sides.

Minimal Filament Waste

This model prints by part, so if you're using different colors for the outer ring and inner core, only one filament change is required. This keeps filament waste to a minimum.

Why Modular?

You can keep experimenting with just the diffuser while leaving the ring intact. Play with print settings to get exactly the look and brightness you want.
