Description

MANTA - Filament Anti-tangling System

With this handy gadget, you’ll solve the tangling problem of your spools once and for all. Simply place it on the filament, and Manta will prevent the filament from getting tangled. If tangling does occur (a very unlikely scenario), you just need to slide Manta toward the free end of the filament to untangle it.

I tested it for several hours with different spools and filaments directly in the AMS, and it never caused the slightest issue. Therefore, you can keep it installed at all times.

The object is designed to allow the filament to move freely when stretched. If it causes you issues with flow, you can print the version with the slightly wider hole. You can find it in the profiles.

If you need more copies, you can duplicate them directly in the slicer or in Bambu Handy.

Is a great model although need one for the end of the Boden tube I was using so scaled in the z and subtracted a flared 4mm cylinder half way through... And added eyes for the hell of it. Also after using them a bit they could use a upturn in the ends of the wings gets stuck rarely on unruly rolls. Props on the design.

wrong direction, the mantra should be facing the ams inlet

I am curious why you say this is the wrong direction, all pictures including the creator's show it in this orientation.

tbh it's not a good design because the fins would stuck on spools with holes.

Most likely, your filament was already tangled before. This object is specifically designed to prevent that.

these work pretty well but initially were to small and would get caught on the marks that the gears would imprint into the filament. drilled out slightly they are awesome! Edit: The profile with the wider holes is awesome!

Thank you for the feedback. I have created a second version with a slightly wider hole.

not sure if it works as intended yet but easy to print and have not noticed tangles as of yet, thanks!

I confirm that what I see in the photo is the correct functioning.

Such a little thing makes such a big difference! Been trying to use up the remainder of this green PLA spool, but it continues to get stuck every couple of rotations. This Mantaray prevented all delays and I no longer have to constantly pull it to untangle it. Thank you so much for this design. Enjoy the boosts.

Great design. Stops my filament from tangling but I found it to be hard to push onto the filament even though I printed the bigger hole one. That’s a me issue though.

They've saved me from many snags. I tested the regular and the wide hole and the regular is a little too snug for me. Caution if using silk PLA - I had a SUNLU silk gold spool in the AMS that kept getting stuck and I couldn't figure out why. I eventually noticed that the manta had gotten so snug on the filament it stuck in place. I had to cut it off with wire cutters, and it was filled with caked up powdery silk. It must be coated on the outside of the strand and flakes off with friction.

Hello, thank you for the model but I must not know how to use it The part rises towards the extruder and does not hinder filament untangling in any way In either direction, with or without AMS and on two different machines I have lowered it several times towards the filament but to no avail
