Description

SPOOL VUE 2.0

PICTURES SHOW A 12 SPOOL SYSTEM

After using my original Spool Vue for quite a while now, I decided to try and improve it both in appearance and functionality giving it a full redesign.

Sometimes when you would move a reel out the ones above and below would move with it, this has now been corrected and each reel rotates smoothly without interfering with the other reels.

Each Spool holder is now stronger and does not droop with a 1kg reel on it.

Each part has been designed to look better and be stronger.

Supports are only now required on the base support screw holes, so everything prints a lot neater.

Each part slots on top of each other and is then bolted through the back using the included bolt, this stops the reels drooping on the spool holders.

On my Print profiles each part has its seam painted on its wall facing side where possible for a cleaner print.

I have also included fitting templates to help install the system as it does need to be straight.

There are two versions and print profiles, a two colour one with the Element gold lines and a plain one with a smooth no line finish.

The one in the photographs is printed in Bambu Labs PLA Metal Iron Gray with Iridium Gold highlights, this looks classy, its a shame to put reels on it so I have also included a reel cover as an optional extra in case you wanted to spend even more money printing it :)

How I Assembled this :

Fix the Base Support to the Wall. ( This needs to be level.)

Slot a Spool Holder onto the Base Support.

Screw a Bolt part way into a SPACER and slot onto the Base Support (bolt towards the wall), tighten the Bolt into the Base Support.

Slot a Spool Holder onto the SPACER.

Screw a Bolt part way into another SPACER and slot onto the previous SPACER, tighten the Bolt into the SPACER.

Slot a Spool Holder onto the SPACER.

Screw a Bolt part way into a WALL SUPPORT and slot onto the SPACER.

Mark the four screw holes on the wall through the WALL SUPPORT, making sure everything is level/straight.

Fit to the wall.

( I found it easier to remove the wall bracket once the wall is marked , tape the FITTING TEMPLATE to the wall making sure its level and drilling through the holes and then fitting the wall plugs.)

Repeat this process to your desired height and instead of a WALL SUPPORT use the TOP SUPPORT to finish off.

BASE SUPPORT connected to SPACER. BASE SUPPORT - SPOOL HOLDER - BOLT - SPACER

FOR A SIX SPOOL SYSTEM you will need to print :-

1 x BASE SUPPORT

6 x SPOOL HOLDERS

4 x SPACERS

1 x WALL BRACKET

1 x TOP SUPPORT

6 x BOLTS

12 x Screw Covers

*** December 2024 - added a profile orientated for the A1 Mini.

Finally getting printed. Looks to do exactly what I need and look good too! Have to order more filament to make the covers and can't wait to see this completed and on the wall. Thanks again for the hole plug pattern, will make it easy, at a glance, to identify what filament is stored there. Printed in BBL Green and bronze metalic.

Thanks ... any idea how many covers I can print from a spool -- ordering filament for the covers later today.

finally got it all to print correctly for me. probably user error. Great print and looks expensive. ignore the one that isn’t level. that’s on me.

Love this storage solution! Wasnt a fan of the storage arm design so I came up with my own replacement which holds sealed or unsealed spools regardless of centre hole size very nicely.

Perfect for organizing filaments in your workspace. Designed with meticulous attention to detail for effortless, supportless printing. I printed a longer version to accommodate more spools without issue.

Absolutely amazing! it looks so clean in my printer space. I'll be extending it and adding a matching one on the other side. Thanks for the model. It's very well put together.
