Super simple OpenSCAD code for customizable plant labels.
I needed to print customized plant labels and I did not want to open CAD program to edit the text everytime. I learned a bit of OpenSCAD and got this working plant label. This is super simple code and super easy to get what ever text you want.
First you need to install OpenSCAD and Montserrat, Black font. You can use other fonts but this code is meant to work with Montserrat, Black.
Download plantlabel.scad from Files. There are also two example stl files.
Open downloaded plantlabel.scad with OpenSCAD
Edit text parameter from the code
Press Preview button
Then you can see how it looks on the preview window.
If it looks good you can press Render button
After that you can export to stl by pressing Export to STL button
Then you can print the stl.
Letters like i and ä,ö - or other which has dots. I have also used customized font that has no dots. Those are not connected. You can remove those dots using PrusaSlicer or other editor.
Or you can conver letters like ä → a or ö → o directly in the text parameter.
You can also use letter ı which is same as i but without the dot. As used in the examle.
I printed these with 0.2mm layer height and 0.4mm nozzle. I think you can use bigger layer height and bigger nozzle if you want more speedier print.
I have used PLA and PET for this but I think you can use whatever material you want.
If you would like to have those letters to pop you can do a color change mid print. Letters will be a bit raised from the stick part.
