Description

I originally created this dice because I needed to print color dice but didn't want to use twice as much filament to print color faces on my dice. So I designed it so the faces can be press fit and swapped. I'll be using this to make custom plates for each of my friends so when board game night rolls around we will let the dice decides who goes first. Tried to keep things as balanced as possible.

It can be used to make classic face dice, worded, number, emoji, and SVG. Each face is the exact size and if all things are lined up and good it should press fit and remain. If you'd like it to be permanent can glue or bind but in general was not needed for my prints. Plates can be removed by the notches in-between, just pry with a pen tip.

Designer profile has bottom support, but after cleaning off the support they should be nicely hidden by a dice plate.

Due to the nature of printing the plates horizontally your printer will not have to purge filament as often saving $$$ and time purging filament. The faceless cube can be nice to add an easy 5th color, or make a novelty dice (see companion cube profile)

Using Make My Sign for custom plates:

  • Use customize, and select the companion cube set to get the correct dimensions.
  • Select the text font and size, change colors.
  • Some warnings: Borders can sometimes add .2mm even if you didn't, so I would make borders with shapes instead. Close and reopen to verify your plate size doesn't change
  • If you are starting from Make My Sign from scratch use the following
    • Square plate, 1mm thickness, 20mm x 20mm
    • 1mm corner radius
    • Under Thickness make sure Facedown mode is checked
  • If doing multiple faces in Make My Sign make your first design, download, then your next. Open one of the .3mf files, and then drag and import the rest.
    • Sometimes you need to change it back to your correct printer for me the A1 mini was selected by default
