Description

A simple print in place model of a planetary gear with dual helical gears.

Due to complaints that the gears could fall out, I have completely redesigned the model.
The new model has a steeper angle on the gears, as well as stronger ring gears to reduce the risk of the planet gear falling out. In addition, the model is smaller to fit more easily in the hand.

Print in place with my print profile.

If your using the stl-file. Remember to separate the objects before printing.

laid flat, works brilliantly. however given the tolerance and design width, the gears often bind when in any other orientation. still an excellent design, but doesn't get 100% wow for that reason

Works great but it instantly stops spinning when you stop pushing it.

Other Issues:Not entirely satisfied, very difficult to unlock after printing (I almost broke it), it does not rotate freely afterwards, constant pushing is required Moreover, it can hurt your fingers when rotating it, the gears are very sharp

I made the mistake of printing 3 copies on the same plate without looking at the plate mock-up before printing, and all parts printed separately. I still haven't found a way to put it back together, due to the chevron shape of the cogs, but the second one was perfect.

Ohh. Its important to ”print in place” on this one.

Replying to @CEMS :
I learned that lesson the hard way! Still, not a loss: I will find something to do with the spare cogs, or keep telling myself that I will, which is good enough.
