Description

This is a cool spherical toy with geared panels. It's a bit of a challenge to assemble correctly so pay attention to the pics and what panels have grooves and which do not, and which have both one end with a groove and the other doesn't. This was printed with AMOLEN tri color silk pla. Make sure to have good bed adhesion also!

Assembly- Be sure to pay attention to the different panel ends. This is due to needing to have the gears rotated half a tooth to allign straight with the next gear in line.

Link to YouTube video with some pointers below!

You'll need 24 bolts that are M4 x 16 SHCS. Start with the top view, take 2 double grooved and 2 non grooved panels and assemble with the joint piece like in the picture. Tighten then back off the bolt about a ¼ turn. Just enough to have easy movement. I used some grease inside the ends of the panels where the joint rotates to have smoother action. Same with where the heads of the bolts go, as the bolts rotate with the panels. Make 2 of these assemblies~

Now start with one assembly and attach 4 joints to the bottoms of the 4 panels. Remember which panels have grooves and which don't. Using some tape to label them helps. Attach the panels with one grooved end like in the side view pics. They will alternate two grooved ends together, then the next joint will have 2 non grooved ends together. The side panels will always be opposite of the top and bottom panels.

Once you're done, attach the other assembled 4 panels to the rest of the sphere.

Turned out awesome. I struggled a bit with assembly, assembling and disassembling a few times, to no fault of the instructions. It’s super important to read the instructions and understand them. I had to re-read a few times to get it right. Once I finally understood what pieces were what and where they went, it was a breeze.

because of model height and very small base adhesion is very difficult

yes, you definitely want to use a brim and a plate that has very good adhesion for pla. I didn't have any issues but the type of plate used will make a big difference.
