Description

IMPORTANT UPDATE: 11/16/24 - I uploaded v1.1 - I made a few adjustments and added small holding tabs. If you are using Bambu Lab's official "AMS Lite Top Mount" I highly recommend using version 1.1 or higher.

I was tired of needing multiple spool adapters to fit all my different sized spools. This is the simple, yet very effective solution I came up with.

This is version two of my Original Prusament Spool Adapter (https://makerworld.com/en/models/219084#profileId-237944). I designed it to fit spools that are either too small to fit the AMS Lite (i.e. Prusament 51mm) or spools that are too BIG (i.e. Geeetech 75mm). It SHOULD be able to fit most spools with center holes between 51mm and 75mm.

Recommended Print Settings:

  • 0.20mm Layer Height
  • 4 walls
  • 15% Gyroid Infill
  • Either PLA or PETG, both work great.

How to:

To use the adapter, simply place the spool onto the shaft, tighten the nut and then slide it onto the AMS Lite. I have a quick demonstration below.

If you are using Bambu's AMS Lite Top Mount, you may want to try my Upgraded TPU Damper. I found with a more robust damper, the Top Mounted AMS Lite does not shake as violently. It can be found here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/823084#profileId-766391

Excellent print. I’ve tried the rings but they don’t work that great. This is the best I’ve universal part I’ve tried. Fits the and tightly and it can be kept on the ams when changing rolls. Also the grooves on the cap make it easier to wind the spool back. printed in sports mode with no issues.

@the_global They’re bulky but the get the job done. People overlook things like this because smaller ones exist. but smaller ones come loose and slip. Thanks again for the file. 👍 Now my #1 print for spools. (and clips) Only criticism if I had one would be to have a button in the centre to push against the ams to pull them off without pulling ams holder off too. and saves fingers.

Printed these in 6 hours using Jayo PETG filament came out really well They fit the Jayo spool using the AMS unit but due to the length of spool shaft and width of the nut these can not be used in conjunction with the Ultimate Enclose upgrade . Maybe if scaled to suit usage with the enclosure will be possible Overall a very nice design and i am pleased with how they look and did not get any stringing just a very good print so well done on design

Thank you for posting your make they turned out great! I had to search what the Ultimate Filament Spool Enclosure was. It would definitely be a challenge to make my adapter fit and still be compatible with a large variety of spools.

i realize that i am using Jayo ones with the enclosure but front spools tend to slide off the adapter when i open the front enclosure cover so not ideal just need to remember to be careful but that aside your design woks well without the covers attached to the ams unit thanks for sharing your design

I buy filament on price mostly. Which means I have many different spool types to deal with both paper and plastic. I have printed a bunch of spool adapters but this one is the best by far. Works great. Easy to print. Printed in Kingroon Green PETG. Another is currently printing and by days end I'll have one for each AMS slot. Great job!
