Description

Spring Gun V3 - Shoots fake bullets with magazine

*** UPDATE 10/11/2024 (see below) ***

Hi everyone, I present to you version 3 of the spring gun, I have read many of your comments regarding the problems with version 2.  One of the most frequent was the breaking of the main body in the finest part just after the trigger, this part has been reinforced.  Also, the reloading system was very uncomfortable and has been improved by adding the upper slide with anti-slip grips that allows a better grip.

If you like this new project and what I post, please consider supporting me by leaving a like, a comment, and a boost.

Assembly guide

Below is the guide to assemble the spring gun v3 but if you prefer I have also added a pdf in the appropriate section for more convenience.

Differences from previous versions

In v1 you had to reload one shot at a time and the bullet pointing downwards fell out of the barrel, a problem solved in v2 where I introduced the magazine with the spring that holds the bullet, finally v3 which facilitates reloading and the problems of fragility of the main body

Conclusion

In conclusion, I think this version is much better than the previous version, I had a lot of fun making and using it. I also made a new v3 target that takes up less space and is more scenic when hit. I will end by reminding you that this is a toy and shoots dummy bullets, hollow and rounded to avoid any kind of injury. Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy it 😁❤️

UPDATES

*** UPDATE 10/11/2024 ***

Reading your comments, many of you are experiencing the same problem, the fake bullets are not coming out of the barrel of the main body. That is why I have added a print profile ("Spring Gun Body Fixed") to print only the main body of the gun in which I have reduced the barrel diameter. I hope this solves the problems you are experiencing, I have not had any after properly removing the supports. Let me know in the comments and this solves it otherwise I will need to modify the spring inside the magazine which may create too much friction.

*** UPDATE 06/11/2024 ***

I added an extended 6/7 bullet magazine and a magazine cover that allows easy reloading of bullets

I am experiencing the same issue... The shot falls from the barrel without even traveling a centimeter...

I am experiencing the same issue too. The bullets barely shoot out or sometimes they just fall out of the barrel. Otherwise the gun is a pretty cool model.

The print quality is good, but how do you envision the assembly of the bracket?

you have to get the teeth to engage the upper carriage to the main body

I don't understand all the hate for this model. I printed it without any modifications on the first try and it shoots perfectly. You leave angry comments as if the design cost you money! The funniest are those who complain about lack of adhesion to the bed, instead of admitting they are messy and don't clean their print plates. To improve: The bullets are difficult to load and to put the magazine in you have to load the weapon, which is dangerous. I would make the pieces only fit on one side.

it cost money to print 🤦🏻‍♂️ And when it is a failure it’s money out the window. that’s why people are downvoting. But hate!? You should choose your words wisely

The print profile is flawless. It will print on the first try without any adjustments. Is the design improvable? That is a separate matter. But blaming the designer for something that is beyond his control does not seem appropriate.

you have good point, its not designer's fault people don't take care of their printers.

V3 seems to be pretty good. No issue during printing, needs some work to remove supports - but the overall strength is greatly improved! Suggestion for V4 - maybe a third spring to bring back the sledge...and an easier way for reloading the mag without taking the mag out ? 🤔😂 but great work, thanks!

I thank you for your feedback, it is a good idea I will consider it. I am already working on v4 and have solved many of the problems of v3 I hope you will try it out 😂😂

A delightful little gadget, however, the upper pull-rod support points are rather fragile; the spring knocked them off after only two uses. It is suggested that the upper pull-rod support points be removed, and the striker mechanism modified with slightly protruding lateral levers for improved robustness. Integrating the slide with the gun simplifies assembly and enhances playability.

Fellow printers, when printing, it's best to reduce the bullet diameter by 1-2mm.
