General

When you’re done playing chess, simply roll up your chessboard and take it anywhere! The rolled-up chessboard has storage space for all your chess pieces inside. You can print the entire chessboard as a single piece (except on the A1 mini). To ensure the board stays securely closed, you’ll need four 10x5x2mm rectangular magnets.

Chess pieces

I also designed these "chess coins" because they fit easily inside the rolled-up chessboard. However, feel free to use any pieces you like! Each tile is 18x18mm.

Printing this on the A1 mini

Although not ideal, it is possible to print this on the Bambu Lab A1 mini. Since the full board won’t fit on one plate, you’ll need to print it on eight separate plates. I've included a file where the board is split across eight different plates. Once all pieces are printed, simply assemble them to complete the board.

this printed really fast and really well! can you make a smaller travel size one? also, can you make a version that uses magnets to hold the pieces?

How much smaller where you thinking?

Small enough that it would be convenient to bring in a car... I am not experienced enough to know how much you could scale this down.

Fantastic design i love the idea, if i can make a recommendation though you may want to cut circles just a few mm deep into each tile for the chess pieces to fit in so they don't slide everywhere across the board.

Congratulations @byfelix what if we made a recess in the squares to glue in a small round magnet and the same thing underneath the pieces? What do you think?

Yes, I have thought about this, but this idea would need 72 magnets. Which I tink are way to many.

White square in lower right corner if you setup the board this way. Or reverse the print colors to play with the spikes on the sides.
