Quiet, Convertible, Universal, Customizable, Piggy Bank, A1-Compatible: Standby Mode Dock for all iPhone  variants, with optional docks for Apple Watch and AirPods.

Boost Me (for free)

With Boosts you support me to buy more filament and invest time for tests and new designs.

Story:

After remixing beautiful iPhone Standby Mode Dock (designed with OVERWERK) from genius Scott Yu-Jan:

I decided to create this complete new design with following features:

Features:

  • Modular/Convertible: It can be converted quickly and easily in various versions without having to print the whole thing again.
    • with Apple Watch Dock or Cover L
    • with AirPods/AirPodsPro Dock or Cover R
    • with Backcover or Drawer
    • with ready-made Frame Adapters for iPhones with or without Case
    • with Replaceable Ejectors with “Eject” Symbol, with custom text or plain
  • Universal: It can be used for all Magsafe compatible iPhones including (almost all standard) Cases
    • Simply select one of the ready-to-print Frame-Adapters from Print Profiles (MAX/PLUS Frame_Adapters  and STD Frame_Adapters) suitable for your iPhone (with or without Case)
    • for unusual iPhone case sizes, You can modify the provided STEP-Files: “STD_Modifiable_Adapter.stp” and/or “MAX_Modifiable_Adapter.stp” according to your wishes.
    • You need to just print another Frame-Adapter to make it quickly compatible for iPhone in other sizes.
  • Customizable:
    • You can choose your favourite color and texture for each individual Part.
    • on the Ejector you can place your custom text, print it with “Eject”-Symbol or plain.
    • my personal tip: Print Frame-Adapter on Textured Plate, it looks realy nice. You can also try other third party build Plates with Holo-Effects.
    • You can also experiment with Fuzzy-Skin on few Parts. I have not testet this on this model yet.
  • New Ejector design:
    • which is very quiet compared to other models.
    • integrated oldschool “Eject”-Symbol can be used for multicolor Prints.
    • The upper area can also be used for custom text or other symbols.
  • All Parts easy replaceable:
    • no screws or glue necessary
    • Double sided tape is needed (small stripes) to fix the Frame-Adapter to the Base and also to fix the Magsafes to the Base.
    • Apple Watch Charger Dock is designed as press-fit. To remove the Apple Watch, you can push from backside-hole with maximal 7mm diameter rod/screwdriver or something else.
    • 2 small shafts/Rods on the ejector can be rejected also with a small screwdriver, you have to remove the Frame-Adapter first.
  • One more thing!!!: EASTER EGG
    • Under the ejector, there is a hidden slot in the Base, where money can be thrown in - Hidden Piggy Bank :)
    • The middle Back-Cover or Drawer can be pulled out to get your collected Money without destroying the dock.
    • You can use this area also to store other parts like AirPods replaceable ear tips or something else.

Print Profiles:

  • MAX/PLUS iPhone-Dock and MAX/PLUS Frame_Adapters(V1 to V4) for MAX and PLUS iPhone versions
  • STD iPhone Dock and STD Frame-Adapters(V5 to V8) for Standard iPhone sizes
  • STD iPhone Dock and STD Frame-Adapters(V9) for iPhone Minis

You can simply print only the parts you need. You do not have to print all parts. If you dont need Apple Watch and/or AirPods docks, you can print only simple side covers.

Frame Adapters

From the Frame-Adapter Print-Profiles MAX/PLUS Frame_Adapters(V1 to V4) and STD Frame-Adapters(V5 to V9) you can choose one suitable for your iPhone/Case. Allocation including dimensions you can find in Table below:

Additional Raw Model Files (OPTIONAL):

If the listed Frame Adapters in Table above are not suitable for your iPhone/Case, you can use optionaly one of modifiable STEP-files which you can find under Raw Model Files. You can adjust the inner cave of the Adapter with CAD-Software to match your Phone/Case size.

  • STD_Modifiable_Adapter.stp: compatible with MAX/PLUS IPhone-DOCK
  • MAX_Modifiable_Adapter.stp: compatible with STD iPhone Dock

If you dont have any experience with CAD-Software and you can not modify Step files, let me know which dimensions you want and for which case. After Boosting me I can provide a customized version especially for you :).

Assembly Process:

Most components are simply plugged into each other.
Apple Watch charger have to be pressed into the recess.
The Magsafe are fixed in place with thin double-sided adhesive tape, some of them don't need tape and can be also only pressed in.

The Transparent MagSafe which I used is this one (JSAUX 15W Mag-Safe): https://amzn.to/4gBnK8W (affiliate Link)

Recess in Modell for Magsafe is 56,2mm diameter.

Frame adapters should be fixed to the housing with thin strips of double-sided adhesive tape, as shown in pictures below.

All cables can be routed inside the housing in the recesses provided in the direction of the rear cover hole.

The Ejector must be assembled with two shafts, after that you can install the Frame Adapter, which prevents that the shafts falling out :).

please make sure that the holes of the Base-Model are free from Support remains. You can use for example small Drill bit or pin to remove and push these out.

Optional:
You can fix all cables together with a Tape or something else, so that only one cable comes out of the housing.
At the bottom I glued small pieces of felt so that it is more quiet on the table and does not rattle.

Assembly/Disassembly Video:

Have Fun and enjoy.

Please contact me if any issue.

please provide Pictures of your makes ;)

07.12.2024 Update: Print Profile for optional horizontal and 45 degrees covers for Watch added: Horizontal and 45 Degrees Watch Covers Optional

Thanks for picture @oksamot

14.01.2025 Update: Added Adapter Frames V9NC, V9XS and V9L for iPhone Minis to Printprofile STD Frame-Adapters.

02.02.2025 Update:  Base-Models (MAX and also STD) updated to make it symmetric. There are now on both sides suitable cutouts for AppleWatch- and AirPods-wires.

You can now mirror existing left and right covers (AirPods/Watch) to asselbe it on the other side of the dock.

To Mirror the Model, open the Print-Profile (3mf-file) in Bambu-Studio, click on the model which you want to mirror, right click on the model and then click on mirror in Y-Axis.

Also added additional AirPods-Docks for bigger/wider AirPod cases (29mm width and for SpigenLock).

Thank you so much, this is the best and we can keep it if we change iPhones I just have the watch that often falls off if the support were diagonal instead of flat it would be perfect I remixed it for my AirPods with a case and I will remix the frame so that my iPhone 15 Pro Max with a case has no gaps and I will add photos thank you again for this superb model

Hi Sylvain, thanks for comment and boosting. Please help me to understand what you are meaning with "watch falling off" and "diagonal support instead of flat". What exactly do you remixed for your AirPods? I personally have also iPhone 15 Pro Max with case, please make sure that you need small gaps, otherwise it will be maybe difficult to put the iPhone into it easily. Thank You :)

To prevent the watch from falling at the slightest jolt, I would have preferred it to be like this

Love the modularity in this print. Great design. The Apple Watch charger is a bit too tight for the newest charger included with the Apple Watch Series 10, and the charging arm module for the Watch charger seems to be a bit thin, causing material split. Included picture for reference. But really, great idea, design and execution! Love the effort put into this project. Highly recommended.

Hey Nilberg, Thank You for Boosting and very constructive feedback. I will check the model and make shown wall little bit thicker. Do you have Measurement for the new Apple Watch Charger? I will update then also the dimension. Best Regards

I had already thickened the wall on this place on MAX/PLUS Version but forgotten to do this also on STD Model :). I will update it and let you know :)

I'd supply the measurements in a heartbeat, but I just broke my digital caliper. Hopefully those measurements are available online somewhere.

Im new to 3D printing. I just print things for fun. I really like this print. I wanted to ask: Is there a way to make the AirPods dock wider, to be able to charge without having it to remove them from its case?? I don't know anything about designing and don't know how to make it wider. Thanks

Hi, Yes, please tell me which one you have printed, STD or MAX Docking station? And could you please measure the dimensions of your AirPods Case? Length and Width. Best Regards, Christo

This is a great design. Printed it twice. The fully built image doesn’t do the filament color justice due to the lighting in the room. The ejection button is actually out of glow in the dark to maybe help see it at night.

I added some rubber feet and filled the “piggy bank” drawer with modeling clay to give it some mass. Takes some effort to move it on the nightstand.

Hey Thank you for pictures and rating. Good Idea with "glow in the dark" Filament, I will test it also for Ejector :). One Question, in the pictures I dont see the Frame Adapter for your Phone, Do you printed it also? :D. Best Regards, Christo

I did customize and print one for my case, but ultimately I chose not to use an adapter because of there not being enough clearance from the MagSafe and the camera protector. It does sit slightly off-center because of this however does engage the MagSafe fully but would not if the frame was used. Again, a great design.

Thanks for Rating, Boosting and Comment Ghost. In the picture, the AirPods-Dock seems to be not fully inserted, maybe the MagSafe glued/sticked not fully centered?

oh yeah you’re right! the charging puck fits good, looks more like the charging base is slightly too long? I’m using a Jsaux charger like you do

I assume that the charger is not placed fully on right side or there is an residue from Support material, see marked in red area in picture, there seems to be an residue, and in green marked area shows that there is enough space to move the charger rightwards.

My wireless device is a no-name brand, so it would also be helpful to know the dimensions of the charging points My device has a diameter of 5618 mm

56,20mm should fit, depending on printing tolerances; if it’s too loose, double-sided adhesive tape will help Greetings Christo

First off, great print. It’s not often someone is able to take the time to create a print as versatile as this. Kudo’s. I had an issue with the tree support clogging the hole for the post where the peg enters for the ejection bar. I forced the peg through which pushed out the junk but it broke the head off the peg, no big deal. Just printed another. Other than that, 100% one of the most functional and most versatile prints in my collection. Thank You!

Hi Timah, Thank you for your great feedback. The Issue with Support Residues in the hole is known. In the next Update I am planning to add "Tear drop" into the Hole to eliminate the need of Support for these holes. Thanks for Boosting, best regards, Christo

I think it was Aurapol Galaxy Black for the body and Aurapol Metallic Brick for the release button. It had some warping but nothing serious, the result looks really fine, i like it a lot ;)
