Description

I took the V2 and reworked the entire helmet to be as accurate as possible.

You guys were unsatisfied with the V2 and that's totally on me, I could and should have done better.

Not having a printer did make things hard to test, but some issues were just a cause of me rushing.

I took all the advice that was given in the comments on the V2 and added it to the V3

So What's been updated ?

  • I update the textures on the helmet to be as accurate as possible while being able to print with no support needed on any of the texture. This helped cut the total print time down significantly.
  • The correct texturing was applied to the sides of the model to be more movie accurate.
  • Reworked serval areas of the helmet, Including the eyes, nose, and overall shape.
  • Removed the nose section from the model for easier printing , This also give more room on the build plate for sizing.
  • Two versions of the Main helm were added - One being used for accuracy and to go with the suit I'm making for you guys.

The other being used for comfort as some people reported the helm was a bit tight on the ears.

  • Uses 46-8x2mm magnets

Enjoy guys

I have had the same issues, and the attached settings worked for me... I hope it helps you! After I modified these settings on my X1C, I have printed 3 masks with no issues at all. Also, you can manually add a little support in that area also to see if you can bolster that zone.

Printed flawlessly using Bambu Lab PLA Matte Charcoal and Matte Lemon Yellow filament. Scaled up to 104.54% to fit a 7 1/4 fitted hat size. Due to the slight increase in size, I needed to print the left and right black wings separately on the plate. To do this, select the build plate with the two wings, change global to object, delete one wing, upscale the remaining wing, right click the object, press center. Repeat process for the other wing.

What printer? On the X1C I was able to fit both wings scaled up to 110% on one plate.

I am using the P1S. For some reason scaling for me to 104.54% caused a space error on my end having both wings on one plate. Did you need to rearrange the model in studio or just print as is?

I think I had to reposition them around. Don't remember the original orientation they came in. They printed perfectly how I have them though.

Just curious, Did anyone's edges come out like this or just me? I have a Bambu Lab A1. The helmet is awesome! So far I printed 3 of just the helmets because the sizing wasn't coming out correctly do to the ears being too close but all good.

hello @Budwin3d The first one on the top with the most downloads and then I clicked on Download. I just did the nose piece for the second helmet printing it vertically and the part that divides the nose part came out messed up but still holding. Am I doing something wrong? 🤔

Ok that is indeed my profile. And no it shouldn't look like that at all. If you haven't changed any of the settings that is. If not, it looks to be a clog or some sort of bad flow rate. IM NO EXPERT IN BAMBU PRINTERS AND THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. I would do some tuning on your machine and be sure everything is good. After that run the test benchy that came with the machine. With some hope this was one of your first prints and you should be able to compare the two. If you haven't made the test benchy before. (Little Tugboat model) Thats ok, after it prints it should look perfect. If not go back to tunning the machine. Repeat this until the benchy prints clean.

solid print had a small issue around one of the magnet holes near the right side by the eyes but other than that printed perfect, unfortunately this version is tight around the ears for me so trying the other version currently. I think some extra magnets around the nose will help bring it all in tighter , im using n52 magnets but still feels a bit unstable if that makes sense.

Thanks brother, Do use the recommended magnets next time. Mine is actually hard to take apart. The Bambu magnets are by far some of the strongest I have come across in my years of buying them from amazon and cheapo websites.

got mine from magnets for less. amazon ones might as well be fridge magnets comparitively. think the 1/16 (1.57mm) @ 2.5lb pull may sit to shallow in the holes so may try the 1/8 (3.18mm) @4.5lbs on the next. just using what i have on hand for now but good to know the bambu ones will definetly work.

Great design. Took a heatgun to the inside of cap to relax the fit around the top of my head. Jaw pieces hit my cheekbones and then hinge off my face. None of this is wrong in the design... just the downside of me having a big melon. Anyway, I hot glued the front three pieces together after aligning with magnets. Makes it so the front assembly can pull on and off in one piece easily while wearing it. And adds some strength since the magnets are not super strong. Thank you, love the print.
