Description

ATOMIC BLASTER V2.0 - Single Shot Blaster

This is a toy that fires a projectile! Never fire at pets or unwilling participants. This can damage drywall, use caution and protective eyewear. Never brandish this as a real weapon or bring it out in public. Just because you know it's a toy, doesn't mean other people will. Enjoy, be safe, and be smart!

UPDATE: DECEMBER 16, 2024

  • Added the reinforced striker latch and experimental 6mm bb casings.

HUGE APOLOGY TO THOSE WHO PRINTED FROM THE PROFILE BEFORE OCTOBER 20, 2024: I had an old version of the barrel which does not fit the projectile, this has been fixed now. Im sorry for any wasted filament and time this may have caused.

A single shot blaster I made quickly as cool down between projects, Enjoy!

Overall mechanism works well and is well designed. The uploaded ammo file is too small. If it works like the images show I believe the ammo needs to be bigger so that the casing stays after the striker is released

Dang I was hoping to simply print some larger bullets. Oh well. Thanks for the update.

None of the screws you linked fit in the model. The threads fit, but the non-threaded part doesn't fit. I don't think the heads of the screws will fit in the recesses either. Additionally, the linked springs do not fit in the barrel latch piece (but does fit in the trigger mechanism hole).

I am so sorry about the bolts, I picked the shouldered bolts by accident and didn't even notice, I feel like an idiot. The springs should fit but may need to be cut down in length slightly. Alternatively you can take them from a mechanical pen or pencil. I'm updating the hardware now, and again I'm am incredibly sorry.

The striker latch bends and snaps easily. I printed 2, 100% infill with PETG, and both became dysfunctional within around 5 shots. It bends under the triangle that holds the striker under tension, and with the circular cutout for the spring there too, that point is particularly thin and fragile. I didn’t try using PLA, but I assume it would just snap easier since PLA is more brittle. Either way, everything else is absolutely amazing and very well designed.

PETG is more brittle than PLA, you need something with a but if flex for impact resistance. I'll take a look at strengthening some parts though

Ah I see, I’ll try printing in PLA then, thx

This was my first print ever. great experience, solid parts that fit together well. The print itself gave me no issues. I printed it in a single material and even tried printing the screws while waiting for the hardware to arrive. I don't have the right spring size for the firing pin, so I ultimately couldn't get it to work, but I enjoyed the process of trying to print a solution to Frankenstein a large spring out of the stuff I have available. Great intro to 3D printing I would say.

Oh wow! Im honoured you chose me for your first print! Frankenstein parts are a big part of my prototyping while i wait for parts.

I found a worthy spring, lol. Added a small cylinder cause it's a bit short and I didn't like it rattling. I might reprint the striker piece and the grips that attach to it in green and call it a pumpkin themed print for fall.

This is a great piece, but the ammunition is not scaled correctly. I only noticed this after printing.

Would you mind trying to print them again with a different filament? Using regular PLA I found they fit together pretty tightly but when using silk they were way to loose.

I've been working on some experimental shells that can be loaded with bbs, they're not perfect but I can upload them if you like

hi i am thinking of printing this model but i want to know is there a possibility of printing the screws to save time and money? also can you link the other 2 parts you used (the 1.0x10x65mm spring and the M3x18mm screw) as to not waste time and money if possible.

I think printed screws would be two weak for this model. You can buy M3 screw kits on amazon or AliExpress that have all the screws you need plus extra for future builds for around 15$. I also just realized that Bambu maker's supply carries the fully threaded M3x18mm screws (Part Code: AA161). For the spring, its hard to find one that's exactly 65mm long, so I just purchase 305mm springs and use a pair of wire cutters and a ruler to cut it to the right length. Attached is the spring I used

Great model! Can it utilize your KDS-MAC rounds? From the looks of it the casing and bullet designed for this blaster are a tad bit smaller and have that extra surface on the bottom so that they I presume stay in place better, so I'm pretty sure the old ones won't fit, but I just want to be sure.

No they wont fit, this projectile has a rim to it to keep in place, so your assumptions were correct.
