Description

This page does not contain the latest version. Please see below.

Version 3 now available here.

Why version 3.0?

It's better in every way, except it is a bit larger.

If you value the original compact design over anything else, you may still prefer the latest update to version 2 here. Otherwise, I highly recommend version 3.

Version 2.1.2

This version features an additional option for a deeper winder knob. The original slim-line knob was difficult to grip for some, so an alternate version with a more pronounced gripping feature has been provided.

Also check out the compatible full-width knob created by PeGys here.

Version 2.1.1

This version features several revisions including:

  • Thicker main tube for increased strength
  • Adjusted geometry of snap-fit pieces for easier assembly.
  • Adjusted geometry and print orientation to enable printing without support material
  • Longer main tube to fit slightly wider ties
  • Skinny tie version included for ties approx. 60cm in width (thanks @Trush23)
  • New optional assembly plunger tool

Tie Winder - A Necktie Travel Case.

Use Tie Winder to keep your neckties organized and wrinkle-free when traveling.

The simple 3-piece design snaps together securely with no fasteners or glue required.

Usage instructions:

  • Fold the tie in half, leaving the wider end about 4 inches longer.
  • Insert the fold into the slot in the center peg and out the front opening.
  • Wind the hand winder forward until the tie is completely inside the center tube.
  • To remove, simply pull the tie out of the large side opening.

Assembly tips:

A good amount of force is needed to snap the center peg and hand winder together. To make this easier, place the hand winder on a table and then slot the opening of the main tube over it. Then place the center peg down over the center snap piece and press down in the middle of the peg with an appropriately sized screwdriver or other tool. It is preferred to use the included assembly plunger tool.

It looks like you printed some duplicate parts. You need Plate 1 and Plate 4 (assembly tool) for a single color print.

Replying to @SuZ3Dx :
Okay, so you want to snap the crank (flat piece with short prongs) into the winder peg (Flared piece with long prongs) through the bottom hole of the main tube like the illustration depicts. It can be helpful to print the assembly tool as well. That one is found on plate 4. I hope that is helpful!

A massive thank you for being so kind as to read my last comment and make a deeper winder grip. It’s perfect! so much easier to turn now and the assembly plunger made it much easier to clip together. printed in PETG and a silk PLA winder. 5 stars and boosting. this is so good!!

Worked out perfectly. Thank you! I didn't need the attachment tool, but appreciate that one was even made. I think the only thing I'd consider adding is a cover to enclose the whole thing as an option.

Thanks for your review and suggestion. I've made an updated version with an optional lid, although it leaves a viewing window open so that you can still see which tie is stored. New version here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/840208

Great design ! I like it alot. Made myself another design in terms of winding knob (black) which is more handy to me and doesn't stick out.
