Description

Boost Me (for free)

I appreciate all the boosts for this, it helps. :)

The Skull Extruder Front Cover V3 is a striking 3D model designed for 3D printing, featuring:

  • A skull dramatically emerges from the surface.
  • The extruder wheel cleverly integrated as one of the skull's eyes, adding both functionality and a bold, eerie aesthetic.
  • Multi-Color / AMS version
  • Bambu Labs branded and unbranded versions.
  • Intricately detailed to add a menacing, Halloween-inspired touch.
  • Perfect for FDM printing, blending creativity with mechanical utility.

This cover is compatible with both the Bambu Labs A1 and A1 Mini 3D printers, making it an ideal upgrade for users of these machines.

This design will make a unique and eye-catching addition to any A1 or A1 Mini setup!

V2 is a Combined version, which takes longer to print and wastes more filament, V3 is a split version, which I recommend to shorten print time a lot, and has almost no waste, only a little bit due to the Bambu logo in a different color. I recommend printing the skull in 0.08mm layer height to not get visible top layers on the skull features, but it looks decently good in 0.2 too.

Great print. I have sliced it in 2 parts to print them without AMS and still have a 2 color print. Had to glue them together. I have uploaded a print profile for people without AMS to try, mind that the front part of the print is face on the plate for you guys using specific textured plates since the texture of the plate will be visible on the front (blue part of my print). Also, layer lines are more visible but it can be fixed by using a smaller layer height. Overall saved nearly 100g of filament and 9h of print time.

The technique I do, is to hook the two top clips, then press on the lower right corner and then the left. It has been working well for me. :) I like the color combo, it came out well.

Printed great with the premade profile, used generic white PLA from Clas Ohlson, was a bit hard to clamp on but that just means its a good fit.

Thanks for the make! It looks good. :) Yeah, it's a bit of technique too. For me it worked best hooking it in on the top then focusing on the lower right corner, then it just clicked in place. :)

I chose to print it in a different orentation. This printed way faster than on its side. Took around 1 hour 40. Also seems the snaps need to be reenforced as they snap easily.

Yeah, in that orientation the clips will snap more easily due to which way the layer lines go. But still a good point in regards to time saved. The reason I chose to print in the orientation of the files, is to make the clips as strong as possible and that it was the least filament used, and I also chose orientation before making the multi-color version. :)

Layer lines can be mostly avoided with higher resolution, I generally print for speed not so much for quality. Just a personal preference really.

yeah! it’s this one: https://makerworld.com/models/136830 I used a dark filament for the main color and center, and then a semi transparent glow in the dark filament for the iris. makes it look a little lifelike I think.

Can you make a non-ams version? like the skull and the cover separate so we just need to glue the skull? Also, it would be faster and less filament waste

Take off the old cover, then hook the top top clips in, then press the bortom right part in, then the left. It should clip in well.

printed all in white and love it, wish I knew how to make it smoother

You can make it smoother by printing it in a lower layer height. The lower you go the smoother the print, but the print of course takes longer. :)
