Description

Boost Me (for free)

This model has been nominated for the Printables Awards 2024 in the category 'best 3D Model in Multi-Material Design'.

Summary
This is a model of a Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 'Eleanor' in a kit card style. Some characteristic details can be discovered.
After printing, the model can be assembled with the help of integrated connectors.
The wheels can be turned, but the car will not roll.

Versions
The complete set is available in a STL file for a one-color print.
There are 3MF-files with predefined colors intended for users of AMS or MMU. Versions with and without racing stripes available.
Otherwise, the chassis, rims and the tires must be printed separately.

The sets are also available with a complete chassis and with a separate front.
Print the complete chassis if you have faith in your printer (overhangs at the front) ;-)
if you are not sure, please print the set with the separate front.

Print
Print with 0.15 layer hight or lower to bring up the details.
No supports are needed.
Use 3 perimeters and 10% infill.

Post processing
The small struts can be removed really quickly and cleanly using a side cutter.

Assembly
The kit is easy to assemble. All parts fit together very well.
If a part should be loose, superglue can be used.

Dimensions
The fully assembled model has the following dimensions
Height: 39 mm
Depth: 139 mm
Width: 56 mm

The complete kit card has the following dimensions when printed
Height: 32 mm
Depth: 140 mm
Width: 99.8 mm
Scaling will work in a low range due to the tolerances.

Other models
I will also try to publish other car models. Stay tuned!

I hope you had as much fun printing and assembling it as I did :-)

Do you like my work? I would be very happy if you would support my work on Ko-fi.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • models disassembled into individual parts and arranged
  • connectors added
  • connected in kit card style and framed
  • painted for AMS / MMU

I am a Ford Mustang classic fan. The model is very good. I printed it in 25cm length. Thanks for the design. I think I will collect your designs. :D

Great print! But you don't need to use supports - my kit cards are printable without supports.

Replying to @lustpruegel :
I know some of the information support was unnecessary. But without being fully supported, it starts printing from the air on the upper part of the front bumper.

How do you attach the wheels? Do you have to drill out a hole in the back of them and glue it into the little axle thing sticking out or do you break that off and just glue it to the inner fender?

Hey, the rims have a hole on the back. You can pull the tires over the rims and then put the whole wheels on the axle on the body side. Thank you for your boost!

The wheels can spin, but the car will not roll by itself. You can add grease to the axles to make the wheels spin better!
