Description

Dimensions (LxWxH)

100 x 107 x 60 mm (100% scale)

Basic information

Seals are without a doubt among the cutest sea animals in existence, and we're sure you'll love this one too! It's chubby, unbelievably cute and cuddly looking, making it an awesome companion to help you with all your daily tasks and challenges. It isn't able to do much, however emotional support still counts. He's just a little guy, after all!

If you're printing it in a single color only, and aren't bothered with loss of definition too much, feel free to downscale the model to your liking. The model has been thoroughly tested, and should print fine up to 50% of the original size in single color, if you have a well calibrated and reasonably accurate setup. Make sure to keep your buildplate clean, and free of any oils or fingerprints! Good first layer adhesion is very important for a successful print.

Files information

I've included 3 files, all of them are neatly sorted into 2 folders:

  • A complete plain stl ready for single color printing, as well as

  • 2 multicolor stls for AMS

Material

PLA

Layer height

0,2 mm or lower.

Infill

>15%

Support

None. The model doesn't require any support material.

Scaling

Possible, but keep in mind the accuracy of your setup. If you go too far with your scaling experiments, you might run into issues such as fused segments, or fragile links. If you have a well calibrated setup, you should be able to print the model at up to 50% of the original size without any issues other than a loss of definition.

Orientation

Default, laid flat on the belly.

Adhesion aid

Not necessary, the contact area with the buildplate should provide a sufficient grip. However if your print surface suffers from poor adhesion, consider using an adhesive spray, or some other kind of adhesion booster. Using a brim is possible, but not recommended, as it would be too difficult, and inconvenient to remove afterwards.

All resolved past issues with the model files and detailed information about their fixes will be listed in this section. If you're having any problems which aren't on this list, please visit the Known issues section below. If you don't see your problem mentioned there as well, please leave us a message with more details, so that we're able to address it as soon as possible.

There currently aren't any known issues/work in progress. If you run into any, please contact me via dm.

The model is cute, no question. But I have two things which leads to -1 star and two wishes, how it could be solved. The first thing: I hate brandings on outer walls! Why? It just doesn't look nice and nobody will recognize these logos. If you want to protect your work, make a hidden watermark e.g. on layer 4. The second thing: You are wasting time in type of color changes as the eyes are uncut spheres (e.g. color changes on layer 210-219 are useless!). Beside of this things: Great work, thanks!

I also don’t love when logos mar a print, but this isn’t that situation. You’re kinda shitty for taking any amount of points off for a logo that you or anyone else will likely never see, particularly when this is otherwise a really lovely print. They did a great job, and they deserve to put their name on their work — particularly when it is functionally invisible. 🤷‍♀️

The logo itself is not a minus star, it is the waste of time for unnecessary filament changes. I have removed the logo before printing.

you literally said it was half of the reason you were taking the star off in your comment though. “But I have two things which leads to -1 star”. It is one of the two things. If you removed the logo on yours and also aren’t lowering the rating for it being there generally otherwise, why are you mentioning it?

Printed 4 from the app, super charming! One small critique would be there is an obvious seam on each seals face, perhaps a slicing/toolpath issue?

Perfect PETG print at 60%. However, I recommend increasing the width of the brim of the "prime tower" which has partially detached. For 3mm PLA it's fine but for PETG it's better to have at least 6mm
