My new model is designed specifically for beginners and children. Soundwave produces a pleasant sound and flies in a smooth, small radius.

Weighing only 24.4 grams, it's quick to print and ready for action.

Even experienced and advanced throwers will enjoy this model, as it's very reliable in flight!

😄 In this video, I test my new model. Check it out if you're not convinced yet! 😄

Technical Data:

  • Difficulty Level: Easy
  • Range: Approximately 10-15 meters, depending on throwing strength and technique
  • Recommended Release Angle: 30-65 degrees against the wind at horizontal height, with a tilt of 1-5 percent

Experience with Soundwave:

After just the first few throws, I had a lot of fun with the new model. It flies in a nice, small radius and is very easy to throw! What I found particularly interesting is that when thrown properly, it makes a sound that provides feedback on the rotation speed, which made it easier for me to adjust the rotation on the next throw.

However, like other models, it has its weaknesses. Due to its light weight, it is sensitive to wind, and if the wind shifts during the throw, the boomerang can be carried away.

On the test day, I had exactly that kind of weather where the wind kept changing direction, causing my models to drift away. It was a bit frustrating, but it’s hard to fight against Mother Nature.

Additionally, I must warn that a boomerang can be dangerous, so you should ensure nobody is in its path. It's important to remember that a boomerang was originally a hunting weapon. I also recommend printing it in a signal color to make it easier to spot.

I wrestled with it for half an hour without success, then it fell from the tree and broke

@user_2563381567 Practice makes perfect! 😄 I recommend throwing it in a large field, ideally without any nearby trees My descriptions usually include the flight radius for each model Additionally, you can watch videos on YouTube to see what to expect when using one of my boomerangs Thank you for the print 🙌😄👍

This game isn't very popular in China, I watched a boomerang throwing tutorial yesterday, does each wing need a counter-clockwise twist?

@user_2563381567 Yes, if you are right-handed, you throw the boomerang counter-clockwise. As a left-handed person, you need to mirror it in the slicer, then you can throw it clockwise

Let me test it first, I don't want people to give your model a bad rep because I screwed it up!

Tested by my Design Engineer: the cut I made is flawed, so I will fix this. Nevertheless it has been the best boomerang we tested so far!

Caught it where I stood first throw! Absolutely stellar design. I switched it to TPU to make it a little softer of a catch.

@TrickyBomB I also need to print and test them in TPU, thanks for your feedback and the great review!👍

Pictured is 95A TPU. It's pretty floppy before throwing but when thrown together with my PLA version they had identical flight paths and landed within an inch of eachother. I was super surprised.

@TrickyBomB That sounds perfect! I'll soon create a model with a PLA or PETG skeleton and a TPU exterior. This way, it will be more comfortable to catch and more stable when thrown. Thank you for your great feedback and the review! 👍👍

@think_3d Same principle as with condoms, better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it. Thanks for the great review ^^

I finally got around to trying this one out. I never got much sound from it, but it flew well. I only got it to return to me a couple of times, but the wind was unsettled today. On one throw, the breeze caught it, and I think it spent ten seconds in the air, swaying back and forth but never stopping spinning. It turns out yellow isn't a great color for boomerangs. I temporarily lost it in the tall grass a few times, so I'll probably go back to printing them in orange.

@scotta316 If you want to create the sound, you need to throw it a bit harder and, most importantly, add a lot of spin to the throw. I’m having the same issue with the weather, when the wind shifts at the wrong moment, it can carry it really far away! I've even lost a model or two because of this. Orange and magenta have proven quite effective for searching so far. Thanks for your feedback and the great rating! 👍👍😄
