Description

RISK BOARD GAME - Bookcase Edition

A fully 3D printed version of the popular RISK board game including all territory cards, 6 dice, 5 colored sets of “tank” style game pieces in their own box, full color 6 pc “interlocking” game board, and the must have BOOKCASE EDITION box to store the entire game. Game information at BoardGameGeek.

Information

All parts were printed with PLA filament. I use a textured plate for adhesion. Some parts will need to be superglued, for example, the book spines are glued to the square cornered side of the bookcase box. The dice inserts are glued to the dice body.

Countless hours have gone into the collection and I hope to continue to expand the collection based on continued interest. Some of the games are long and large prints.

Dedication

The Bookcase Edition is dedicated to my friend Don, as the Old Guys Gang continue to play boardgames in his memory even though his seat is empty now.

BOOKCASE EDITION GAME COLLECTION

Fantastic quality, still finishing up the game pieces and I’m repurposing cards from my old board game.

Looks great! I'm glad you were able to use all the colors. If you use transparent PLA or PETG, it looks great for the game piece boxes.

Hello, I have a prusa mk3S and this game box is just a tad too big to fit on the bed (see photos). I was hoping you might have a recommendation on how to proceed. I can scale it down to 95% to ensure it fits, but I am uncertain how scaling down ALL THE PARTS would affect gameplay/fit. Any insights would be helpful.

Everything fits neatly in the box, so any adjustment must be universal. You could scale everything by 95% (X, Y & Z axis). If you only scale the X & Y axis, make sure you re-rotate the objects that are currently angled at 45 degress back to zero degrees (-45 degress rotate), That way the 95% scaling will be correct. I only postion objects at 45 angle because I like the lines better (they can be a zero degrees). The cards would also have to be scaled because all the parts fit neatly in the box. I personally would leave the Z axis as the thinner objects like the cards may not print as well. You could start with the cards first at 95% and make your decision then how to proceed.

This is a great idea. I will print a couple cards first to see if that is possible

RISK - Territory Cards, 0.4mm nozzel
A truly magnificent creation I struggled with the colors and adhesion to the build plate, hence the use of spray, especially helpful for cards with fine details THANK YOU for sharing this and for the exceptional work Thinking of your friend in the owner's dedication ❤️

RISK BOARD GAME - Bookcase Edition
had some slicing issues with the dice printing the black outline on the 2nd layer, leading to ugly overhang/dodgy outline. rest of the model works wonderfully- the interlocking mechanism is simple yet works great. the lock on the box is done cleanly as well.

Is it possible to upload a version that only needs a single AMS?

I used a single AMS on my print but it is setup for those that have more than one AMS. In Bambu Studio after you slice the plate you have the ability to pick color positions from your AMS. This is where I swap colors as needed. For my single AMS: I used one red (same) color for both of the reds, Board UM - switch the light blue when it is complete with dark blue, board LL - for the white I used light blue. Boards UL, UR, LM and LR only have 4 colors (when you have the same red). Refer to my pictures and you'll see one red and no white. Hope this helps, best of luck with the print!

Thank you I didn't even think about that, here is what I ended up doing that worked. It is possible with a single AMS, I am just finishing mine up now. On the plate marked Board UM, you need to add a manual pause at the start of layer 25. In my AMS I have the light blue, dark red, orange, and brown. When you hit print it will warn you that one of the colors is unassigned, the dark blue wont have a matching filament, tell it to use the light blue. When the machine hits the pause you added, on the screen of your device heat the nozzle to 240 and then manually retract from the extruder via the screen. Remove the light blue from the AMS and put the dark blue in its spot. Press resume and it should then print the remaining 4 colors, do this for each plate with 4 colors, always removing the light blue and replacing it with a new color. Check each plate to be sure at what layer it goes from light blue to multicolor.

I happy that you were able to work around the extra color. I just made sure that I switched the blue(s) just before the dark blue was ready to print. You have to know what layer you are on in order to do this. Post some pics when you are done, I'm interested on how your print turns out.

looking at the a1 mini profile, and it's not possible to print. a1 mini only supports 1 ams and most of the plates are 5 clolous

Hi Dr_Tezza, I did not publish the "A1 Mini 80%" print profile and I do recommend it as it was published by someone elese and it has not been print tested as recommend by Bambu's guidelines before publishing a print profile. I also do not recommend scaling the game down, do so at your risk (no pun intended). You are correct that all board print profiles use 5 colors. I used a single AMS on my print but it is also setup for those that have more than one AMS. For a single AMS unit, in Bambu Studio after you slice the plate you have the ability to pick color positions from your AMS. This is where I swap colors as needed. For my single AMS: I used one red (same) color for both of the reds, Board UM - switch the light blue when it is complete with dark blue, board LL - for the white I used light blue. I love the design. The dice inserts do not have the numbers. What font are you using? I want to keep the same look.

The dice numbers are shown on the underside, facing the plate.

Loving these! I'm going to have to skip this one as I can never get a good print from my .2 nozzle but have printed all of the others aside from the two we already own versions of and they have come out great. always on the lookout for your next design!

I have uploaded a 0.4mm nozzel set of cards. BUT see the warnings: 1 - text is not as good, 2 - cards are larger and do not fit in the bookcase edition box. I recommend trying one sample card with the 0.2mm nozzel. I did alot of experimenting with these cards with the 0.2mm nozzel before publishing. Like you, I did not have success with the 0.2mm nozzel in the past. With the 0.2mm nozzel, I thickened the bottom layer and I made sure that the white filament printed first to avoid those nastly string lines from other colors showing. Best of luck!

Thanks, I appreciate the support. This last game in the Bookcase Edition, RISK took a lot of time and testing to get it complete, but it was well worth it! Check out the whole series at: https://makerworld.com/en/collections/2157183
