Description

I designed an airtight filament storage to store two spules of filament in an optimal way. The print only consumes 80g of filament.

The model fits perfectly inside an Ikea 365+ 10.6l box and uses simple hardware to go with it.

Requirements

Optional

At first, the two parts have to be printed. In the meantime, you can already shorten the pipe with a diameter of 16mm to the appropriate size (15.5cm x 2). As soon as the parts are printed, you can assemble the filament storage as shown in the pictures. You need a bit of force to put the two pieces together, that is intentionally so the two parts have a strong connection and stay together.

I really like my design and everything worked out nicely. I hope you like it too, let me know, if I should change or add something!

Please be nice ;)

I took the liberty of designing a silicate box for your design. With two lids that can be slid open on the sides. I just don't know how to make it available here, other than uploading it myself

Very nice design. I changed the holder for the hygrometer to fit the round version.

Sorry, I can't do that. The creator of the original model does not allow remixes.

Thank you for this great design. I've tried many others but this is the first one that fits very well - without sliding - in the box :) After putting the first few spools in, I noticed that the spools were sliding around, so I did a little design work myself and added a printprofile for tubes with notches. @Kumpelblase, please check it out. If you want to add these tubes to your profile, feel free to contact me.

It's really great. It would be even better if there was a suitable desiccant box to fill the gap at the back.

Hello. I am interested in this project and I have bought two Ikea 365+ 10.61 boxes. I'm about to print the apparatus but I have two reservations. 1. I'm in Australia and I can't get a hygrometer of the dimensions you specify, so I would have to modify the two front uprights to fit a hygrometer I can buy. I don't think its insurmountable 2. The apparatus in your project lifts the spools onto the two tubular rollers, but for what purpose? Is there a new version coming where your dry box feeds filament directly to the printer? Otherwise why not just put two spools of filament and a bottle or box of Silica Gel directly into the Ikea storage box? Thanks for your good work

Hello! Thanks for your comment. I am planing to upload a version without the hygrometer holder. Maybe you could then place it with a stand inside the box. The tubular rollers lift the spools just a bit. It functions as a stop for the spools, so they don't move inside the box. I will add a silica gel container for this model. It is unlikely, that there will be a version where the box feeds the filament directly, because there has to be a way to rewind the filament automatically in the box.

I ended up printing three boxes, and on the last two I applied a negative block over the hygrometer supports so it now doesn’t print. I have bought square hygrometers before, for which I printed a stand that could be superglued anywhere in the container. this stand has an open top and front with “wings” to which I would apply the glue. this then holds the hygrometer’s face hard against the the case so it’s viewable from the outside. the open top allows the hygrometer to be slid up and out for battery replacement. all in all, a good project. thanks

works ok but have a tendency to lean outwards too much causing the centre bar to fall down

I noticed the same issue myself. As a quick fix, I used a slightly longer tube. It's not ideal, but it works

really nice design 👌 works great - however there is still need to fix something better for bambu spool/sunlu/other brands rollers - these don't hold up so well

I have already updated and strengthened my version of the tubes. I ran into the same problem :) should be fixed.

Strength Issue:prints ok but filament gets wirey while printing and starts getting messy as it prints. happened twice to me.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. So far, I and other users have had no problems with the model. Could it be your filament?

not going to lie that sounds like a problem with you. there should be no reason you give this model less stars because you cannot properly print something

why are you attacking me over a print profile? the model itself is good, I ended up making my own profile and it came out fine.
