Description

CHERISH BALL version:

The Cherish Ball (Japanese: プレシャスボール Precious Ball) is a type of Poké Ball introduced in Generation IV. Event Pokémon are often contained in a Cherish Ball.

This pokeball is an improvement of MrFozzie's original work, the hinge mechanism has been simplified and optimized to be printed in place.

I have modified the inner and outer button to eliminate the overhangs so that it can be printed without supports.

I have also modified the hinge making it easier to print.

The print profile is designed and tested for easy printing, the hinge has increased perimeters for greater strength, supports and seams are added by hand.

The outer parts have a variable layer height for a smooth finish.

This pokeball is an awesome work of Legoguy1977 found in thingiverse adapted with adaptive layer height, and custom seams and supports for better results

Due to the complexity of this Pokeball, it requires the use of quite a few supports, which have to be removed.

ADDED NEW PRINT PROFILE WITH IMPROVED VERSION

Instructions for assembly:

Glue the top and bottom pieces to the hinge mechanism, the piece with a hole in the button mechanism will go on the top.

The button does not need to be glued, just insert it into the ring and glue to the outside of the ring and hinge.

Fully functional PokeBall made to be an exact replica of the real thing! Uses only 3D printed parts and super glue yet has fully functional hinge and button which presses in and unlocks a catch to allow you to open it, using the flex in the plastic to act as a spring. Hinge opens to 90 degrees and stops like the real thing and does not stick out the back so cannot be seen, also just like the real thing. The button also hides its own mechanism from view adding to the authenticity. Parts have notches and grooves to ensure perfect alignment while glueing allowing you to have a perfect model with ease.

The lids are a low percentage print in this setup. I tried slowing it down and adding supports and they rarely print properly on both sides. I'm going to try one last time with a bigger layer height to lessen the downward pressure for the connecting areas. The red shell should meet midway and the outside could be inserts.

Thank you very much for the feedback, I have modified the profile to lower the speed of the red parts, and changed the type of supports

Not sure if there is a difference for the shell, but the profile currently has 2 top lid parts.

Variable layer height, supports and seam set manually
Strength Issue:It keeps breaking, It's either the left or right.. I'm on attempt #3. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong.
Support Issue:Not really sure if it's support or strenght issue.
