Description

My son came up with the suggestion to create a truck after I created a gantry crane with containers for him. Who am I to say no?

Update 5th of September 2024: minor fixes and improvements

Features

  • inspired by the classic Peterbilt 379
  • fully printable and to be assembled with concealed swallowtail connections
  • requires (almost) no support to print, except for the air filter housings located at the hood
  • trailer and containers can snap on and off mechanically
  • rugged design with rounded edges

Also check out my related design, the Gantry Crane which has been updated with compatible snap-on / snap-off containers https://makerworld.com/en/models/537920#profileId-455087
Gantry crane with snap-on / snap-off container

Troubleshooting:

  • Assembly: please follow the assembly instructions closely. Some pieces can be hard to remove when assembled incorrectly or in the wrong order
  • Tight fittings: some of the swallowtail fittings are tight on purpose. If you experience challenges during assembly, apply little bit of force and wiggle the piece while sliding it in the fitting
  • Bed adhesion: some of the plates have pieces pretty close to the bed’s edges. This can result in poor bed adhesion and curling edges on your print. Make sure to clean your bed before printing and if need be, reduce print speed to 50%. This can be done on the printer display

I am looking to print this but the truck cabin seems to be missing all the parts for the trailer are there, where do I find the cabin?

Hi @Myshka2024, thanks for your interest in the model. You can print the cabin from the separate 0.08mm layer high quality bodywork, 2 walls, 15% infill print profile. It contains all the bodywork for the high detail version.

This is the one I’m referring to, you’ll see it when you press “prepare to print” in the Bambu App

Came out looking great and was easy to assemble. I had one issue with bed adhesion that I take full responsibility for, if anyone happens to notice it.

You can deal with the stickiness of the bed by using hair spray. It helps a lot :)

awesome model, everything fitts good without any need for glue. I printed it scaled down to 77% to match the scale of hot wheels cars. For the grill and the hub caps I used a small hammer to tap them in. Now just some paint and it will be perfect.

Hello, it looks great, ask how you made the pieces fit together, I couldn't do it, it cost a lot and pieces broke.

I had no problem with the big pieces, a couple of the small pieces I did clean up a bit with a sharp knife to make them fit easier. It can help to clean out the slots a bit to round the edges a bit.

the wheels came out good but the “shiney parts” was painful especially with the exhaust pipes and I couldn’t deselect any parts on the plate which meant if one part failed and the rest came out good I had to reprint the entire plate and waste time and filament

Thanks for bringing this up. It is possible to ungroup the parts using the Bambu desktop application and reprint only one, but I will upload the ungrouped print profile today to resolve this. Can you please elaborate on the challenges you faced with the exhaust pipes or other parts? That way I can look into this further

I have updated the print profiles. For future reference, I'm including a screenshot of how you can split a component to parts in the desktop application to avoid having to print everything

basically at the tip of the exhaust had a space surface area on the build plate ehicg made it easy for it pop off mid print and ruin the exhaust. brins would be nice and some support under the pipe to help support it while it probts

Very nice and elaborate model. My sons are very happy with it, I have to print the second one because they fight over it :D I had a problem with the Bambulab A1 while printing the "Shiny thing", I solved it with BRIM.

thanks for sharing, the endresult looks great! I’ve had similar issues when printing parts close to the bed’s edge but I was able to resolve them following instructions from Bambu’s excellent support pages: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/knowledge-sharing/printed-model-warping . More specifically, the cooling settings under 2. proved to be very effective

Hi, here are some photos of how it turned out. Some parts broke when fitting together. I don't know if it was due to lack of filling. Now I will make another one with more filling, but this one turned out like this.
