Description

Introducing Bank Heist, an exciting two-player strategy game that will test your wits and planning skills! Inspired by classic games like MB's Slotter (also known as Downfall), Bank Heist brings a fresh twist to the vertical strategy genre. In this game of cat and mouse, players take on the roles of rival thieves attempting to crack the bank's vault and make off with the loot.

Bank Heist pits two players against each other in a race to be the first to guide their colored coins through a vertical maze and out through the bottom of the game board. But beware! Your opponent is trying to do the same, and only one of you can emerge victorious.

✨Stay up to date with what we're making and sell prints of our designs over at our Patreon community.

Components:

  • 2 vertical game board with 5 rotating dials on each side.
  • 5 pegs connecting the rotating dials.
  • 2 sets of colored coins (10 per player), numbered 1-5 for each color and player.
    • ⚠️Please keep these pieces away from small children.
  • 14 M2.5x8mm self-tapping screws from either our Amazon Link (https://amzn.to/3yZV1Km) or from the Maker's Supply link below.

Game Play:

Objective: Be the first player to successfully guide all your coins through the bank vault (game board) and out the bottom in the correct sequence.

Setup: One side of the game board will have an indicator for the exact position to start each dial, before loading the coins. Each player loads their coins into the side slots of the vault in order (1 through 5) and you'll decide who goes first.

How to Play:

  • On your turn, slowly rotate any one of your dials in either direction.
    • You may continue turning the dial even after a coin has fallen onto or out of it, you must continue in the same direction for the entirety of that turn.
    • Remember: The coin "gates" on each dial are positioned differently on either side of the frame.
  • You may NEVER turn the dial that your opponent just turned on their previous move.
    • Exception: When your very last coin reaches the bottom dial, you may turn it even if your opponent just moved it.
  • Once a coin reaches dial 2, you can move it to either of the two dials next to it.
    • Example: Move from dial 2 to dial 3 or dial 4.
  • Use the dials strategically to guide your coins downward while blocking your opponent's progress.
  • If you accidentally turn the dial your opponent just moved, you lose your next turn.

Winning: The first player to get all their coins out of the bottom of the vault in the correct order (1-2-3-4-5) wins the heist!

Game Variations:

  • Beginner's Heist: First to get all coins out in any order wins.
  • Reverse Heist: Set up coins in reverse order (5-4-3-2-1). First to get them out in ascending order (1-2-3-4-5) wins.
  • Sabotage: Try to force your opponent's coins out in the wrong order to win.
  • Team Heist (4 players): Form two teams. Fill both sides with each team's coins. Teams alternate turns. First team to get all their coins out in order wins.

Assembly:

  • Start by placing the two game board pieces back-to-back as shown in the image below, and on the first side, place the (4) BT2.6x8 self-tapping screws in the provided holes to connect the two boards together. Ensure that these are well aligned, and do not overtighten.
  • Next, slide the center pegs into each of the dials for one side of the board. Place a BT2.6x8 self-tapping screw into the center of each dial.
  • Finally, slide the corresponding dials on the other side of the game board and place the remaining BT2.6x8 self-tapping screws into the center of each dial. Then you can place the coins on either side according to the game rules and you can start cracking the safe.

Tips:

  • For the top coin tracks, the coins themselves and dials, please ensure that there are no strings or burrs left after printing to ensure smooth gameplay.
  • Ensure the two gameboards are well aligned before tightening the screws as to ensure smooth gameplay. Misaligned boards or any burrs, strings left in the holes may cause the dials to get into a bind and not spin well.
  • Do not overtighten the screws.
  • After assembly, spin the dials around several times working them in to ensure smooth operation during game play.
  • When a player stops spinning the dial over an opening, ensure that it is well aligned for the coin to drop through, unless your current play it to be offset to prevent a coin from falling.

Design Intent:

At Ozarkexpeditions, we're passionate about creating engaging games that bring people together. Bank Heist is designed to be not just a game, but an experience that challenges your mind and sparks friendly competition. We've carefully crafted each component to ensure smooth gameplay and durability, making it a game you'll return to time and time again. While we wouldn't compare the craftsmanship to @Josheh_3D's card shuffler, I had his design sitting on the table and it certainly influenced my designs choices. We got the idea for this brain teaser from one of our pro Patreon supporters, so if there is something that you'd like us to design, consider joining the community.

Feedback:

As with all our designs, your feedback is invaluable to us. We're always looking for ways to improve and enhance our games. If you have any suggestions, comments, or ideas for Bank Heist, please don't hesitate to share them. Your input helps us create better games and experiences for everyone in the maker community.

We'd love to see your Bank Heist in action! Download, print, and share your creations. Don't forget to post your build photos, give us a download, and if you want to see more cool projects, give a boost! 🚀

Ha, yes, the original wasn't exactly a work of art.

It was driving me crazy I couldn't remember the original name. My brother and I used to play this all the time. Thanks for the memory!

Thanks for this design! Really awesome! But there are no numbers at the pucks? Do I need to write/paint them my self? If yes, is it an idea to design them with the numbers engraved?

hello, thanks for the kind words. Have you opened the 3MF file or used MakerWorlds STL download tool? The pucks are really two models merged, the puck and the number, which is face down for better print quality. I don’t really like the auto generated STLs as the don’t always include everything. cheers,

Dowloaded stl files, opened in Prusa and Crura.

Ah, yes. This model was designed for an AMS or multiple material system and that is all pre-configured in the 3MF file. I'm not sure what's possible when just exporting the STL files and I'm not as familiar with Prusa Slicer and Cura these days. If you are just using the STL files, you may need to do some other preparation in your slicer of choice to make indents for the numbers or add numbers. Hope that may help, sorry for the issue and I hope that you can find a way to play!

Thanks for the remake! I only have a vague memory of playing the original (or rather playing with the pieces as I didnt know how to play it as a kid).

I was going for a casino look (green and gold). Not sure about the black dials yet, I might go for something else.

That is the first thing that I thought of when I saw your photo, so you did a wonderful job selecting colors. The black dials with white text look cool. Cheers!

Question: are there supposed to be these tick marks on both side panels?

good questions I just included them on one side as that player would be responsible for “setting” the board for game play. I went back and forth on including them on both sides. what are your thoughts?

I just assumed both sides should have them so either player could set up the dials?!🤷‍♂️

Yeah actually, here are photos of the original game. If it's an easy fix I'd say you should include them on both sides as well!

looks pretty cool and excited to print off, do your coins all go on your side or do half you coins go on opponents side as well? and I assume you can not look at other person's side?

Thanks and look forward to any feedback or suggestions after you print it! There are a total of 10 coins per side. You cannot look at your opponents side during the gameplay. part of it is trying to remember where their pieces are based on the movement of the dials.
