I’m excited to share a mailable postcard I've been working on, designed to add a little fun to your snail mail. It’s the standard postcard size, 4x6in, but thicker at about 1.85mm. I’ve sent these over long distances without any trouble, though obviously I can’t guarantee the same for each one. Still, it’s been a pretty cool way to send something personal and different through the mail.
If you’re planning to write on it and mail it, I’d suggest doing a quick test print of just the first few layers to see which pens work best. I’ve found that a fine-tipped Sharpie does a decent job, though it can bleed along the filament lines a bit if you press too hard. I've printed these on both textured PEI sheets and smooth and haven't noticed much of a difference between the two as far as writing on them goes. Depending on your filament, you might be able to tweak the design or weight a bit, but as it stands, you’ll need two stamps to send this through the mail.
You can see the settings from the imported 3mf file, and I did use a .4mm nozzle just to keep the print from taking too long. For the colors, I used a mix of Bambu Basic PLA filaments: black, white, bronze, orange, and yellow. The AMS was loaded with black, white, bronze, and orange initially, and I swapped out the bronze for yellow once the print moved past the bronze. I’m still tinkering with the process and hope to upload more designs in the future, but I wanted to get this one out there for anyone interested. If you decide to give this a go, I hope it turns out well. If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to leave a comment—I’m happy to help where I can!
