Description

This meticulously designed Light Switch Cover is a perfect addition to any room! Crafted with attention to detail, this model features fully functional lever that make turning the lights on and off fun!

This model makes 3D printing fun and allows you to showcase a 3D-printed functional part in your household for everyone to use and see. Amaze your friends and guests by showing them what 3D printing is capable of.

This model stands as a testament to advanced 3D printing capabilities and seamlessly integrates into creative and imaginative setups, enhancing any themed environment or collection. Its intricate design and functional features make it an ideal piece for those looking to showcase their 3D printing skills and love for detailed, functional models.

Here is an easy-to-print light switch that makes it fun to turn on and off your lights!

14 pieces total.

The base will require support but can be printed without. The backside is not visible when installed so it is up to you on how you want to print it. I used Geeetech Metal PLA and Geeetech PLA Bronze Rainbow filament for this project.

It will require glue to hold it together. It is simple to put together but will require a little effort to install the pins into the handle. This gives it a tight feel vice a wobbly loose feel when moving the switch on and off.

Way Engineered Light Switch Assembly Instructions

Items needed: Glue that sticks to the filament.

3D printed parts list:

(A) - Base Plate

(B) – Flat Gear

(C) – Round Gear

(D) – Pins x4

(E) - End Caps x4

(F) – Lever Arms x2

(G) – Handle

Step 1: Place Base Plate (A) flat onto the surface and take Flat Gear (B) and center it onto Base Plate (A).

Step 2: Take Round Gear (C) and place it between the two raised parts on Base Plate (A) and place it centered onto Flat Gear (B).

Step 3: Take x2 of the Pins (D) and insert them into Round Gear (C). Insert them and allow 10mm of protrusion to install Lever Arms (F) and End Caps (E).

NOTE – I placed glue inside the round gear and onto the pins so that the pins stay tight inside the round gear. Let the glue cure before installing Lever Arms and End Caps.

Step 4: Take Handle (G) and place x2 Pins (D) into the handle. Lightly taping Pins will aid with installation. Allow between 9 to 10mm of protrusion of Pin from Handle to allow installation of Lever Arms and End Caps.

Step 5: Take Handle (G) and install x1 Lever Arm (F) onto Handle.

Step 6: Take the Handle with 1x Lever Arm installed and install it onto the Pin that is installed into the Round Gear. Ensure the Round Gear is centered onto the Flat Gear when installing Lever Arms. Lever Arms will be vertical during installation.

Step 7: Take the other Lever Arm and install it onto other side.

Step 8: Once both Lever Arms are installed, install End Caps (E) on all Pins using glue to hold them in place. Allow glue to cure and have fun with your Way Engineered Light Switch!!

Easy installation steps:

  1. Remove two screws over the existing light switch cover.
  2. Install the new base and reuse the screws that you removed.
  3. Enjoy your new light switch cover and send me a boost!

Is there any way for you to be able to change the gears or something so it works for the flat light switches?? Like this:

I wouldn't be worried with the way it looks on the back side since you won't be able to see it when installed. I have printed a few without supports and they still work the same as the ones printed with supports

From what I see in the picture, you have not yet removed that final layer of support material. It's difficult but can be done.

**"Very beautiful design. It’s both functional and elegant. I was able to use a 'silk silver' filament for the base and a copper shade for the mechanical parts, with no filament waste. By choosing the right filament change height, the desired effect was achieved without needing both filaments simultaneously, so no waste. As a bonus, it’s very easy to print.I installed this wall switch in my grandson’s room, and he was absolutely thrilled. He takes pride in seeing the admiring faces of his friends when they notice the switch.Thank you for this great design."**

Printed flawlessly, supports were a little time consuming to remove, but they were all well-placed and needed. I couldn't be happier with the result, an absolutely fantastic model! I used: Bambu PLA Basic - Black Bambu PLA Silk - Copper Bambu PLA Matte - Dark Brown
