Description

Wombats Awsome Caps Revolver

About this Model

This is a fully functional revolver for 8-shot caps.

It is 100% printed from PLA! No screws, springs or rubber bands are needed. Not even glue is needed. You can simply plug everything together.
I did hundreds of test prints until everything fit without rework. In a normal case, everything should fit without filing.

It has single action and double action.

The drum is removable.

Printing and assembly

I have created 6 different print profiles. There is a closed, a half-ribbed and a fully ribbed version. There are also all versions with one or two colors. I print the colors one after the other so that no rinsing and no rinsing tower is necessary.

Operation

Some force is required to fire the caps and the spring must be under tension. There is a tensioning mechanism in the handle to ensure that the spring force does not slacken. When you are not using the revolver, you should always relax the spring via the mechanism.

Inserting the caps can be difficult. All the individual caps must be pressed in at the same time. I recommend removing the drum and pressing in the caps using a flat surface.

The caps you can buy here in Germany are extremely quiet. But you can buy old caps from the 70s on ebay that are much louder! You can also stack the pads from several caps for a stronger effect :)

Great design but my PLA couldn't withstand the tension and many parts broke even during assembly.

I'm sorry to hear that. As there wasn't much space, the tolerances are very critical. It may be that the fits are already better with a different filament. If it was too tight, it could also help to reduce the flow a little.

Were the parts that broke all printed in that multi color? I've found those to be pretty brittle.

Hi, yes it was tight. I will try it again and adjust the settings + try different filament. Thanks

Does it still work? From my expierience PETG springs are softer than PLA and sometimes don't have enough force.

it works as a model. trigger hammer and cylinder all cycle. I have not tried any caps yet. I'll have to order a pack

Hey, i made one for myself, all seems fine, but the drum doesn't spin. Nothing is broke or anything. What i did wrong? And, that thing is loud as hell dude! I got scared trying it lol. P.S fixed it.

I reprinted internals and now everything seems good. Drum tends to wear off, but it's expected. Really nice design, will make couple of these and spare parts to play around! Thanks!

It's difficult to say from here. Perhaps there is something wrong with the pusher that is assembled at minute 1:48 in the video.

I think it was the pusher, but like i said, i freshly printed new set of internals, now it's spinning. Thanks for design again!

Works great and was a masterful design. I added a red nose in keeping with play gun rules, the rules say orange but this works for me and by filament availability. Thanks :)

this is a pretty good design however the one I printed doesn’t work very well. the spring in the hammer doesn’t stay in the right position no matter how hard I try to glue it in place or move it over it alyways moves so that the trigger can’t move the hammer. any help

Unfortunately, it's difficult to say from here. A video could help. Often it is simply due to tolerances, which are unfortunately very critical with this model. It may help to print the problematic parts with a different filament.

This is my favourite print so far, printed nicely. the video to explain how to put it together could be a bit slower, but nonetheless, was still clear enough if you pause every step. The sound and feel of the whole revolver is amazing, my friends are jealous and i’m making more as we speak :)
