Description

Here's a new entry to my desk lamp collection.. and its the star destroyer..

I make a voting poll on my buymeacoffee page and this star destroyer had the 2nd most requested desk lamp..

Since i already modelled the suspended star destroyer.. might as well add it to the desk lamp collection too.. As always i designed the ship using tinkercad.. here's a video of the making off..

Since i'm going to give the desk lamp to a friend of mine.. i opted to airbrush paint the ship instead of multicolor 3d print them.. it takes a while to multicolor print.. almost 3 days..

I used a working lamp similar to IKEA FORSA desk lamp that i found on aliexpress.. you can buy them using my affiliate links here..

Aliexpress version

IKEA FORSA

And as usual.. i also added the multicolor print profile for anyone who wants to 3d print these in color..

I hope you'll have fun 3d printing the star destroyer desk lamp..

On a site note.. I'm doing a giveaway every week for MakerWorld users.. each week a winner will get a LED Lamp Kit 001 coupon for free.. all you have to do is comment your username in my sosial media post here.. Facebook.. Instagram.. Youtube.. I'll pick a random winner from each platform..

How are you attaching this to the lamp? It's very unclear? I get you are using a separate LED which is fine but I'm struggling to see how it attaches. I have just bought the IKEA FORSA lamp for it but struggling to make it work. Help appreciated thanks ( A photo of how its attached would be great)

Does the heat from the lamp effect the print?

I can't comment for sure, but I'm willing to bet the led lamp kit puts off like 5 degrees. Pla won't start warping under like 10x that. it'll be fine!

Replying to @FirstLayer3DPri :
I missed the fact that it was an LED bulb. Much better

Yet another boost and suggestion for you! This one reminded me of the alien Tripods at the War of the World movie with Tom Cruise ;)

this is a very creative way to take something simple as a lamp and turning it into art without sacrificing the functionality.
